Speaker of the House John Boehner has included raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans in his latest offer to the president in order to avoid the fiscal cliff. There has not yet been any negotiations or signs that one will come soon, but this is the latest breakthrough in preventing the United States from going back into a recession. Many are surprised that the Republican leader put such an offer on the table, as it has seemed that the GOP wanted to circumvent any tax increases. Sources also reported that the budget cuts which Boehner wants are more than what the president originally desired, but both sides will have to make certain compromises. Politicos are anxious to see if Congress and the White House can come to an agreement soon. Boehner met with President Obama twice this week in an effort to meet in the middle of the aisle before the new year comes. Be on the look out in the days and weeks to come.

Why Is This Happening?

Seems to me answers are clear. The population that can most afford it should be taking on more taxes...no AMT for the middle class, no reduction of tax breaks for SMALL businesses, no increase in employee payroll taxes.
