Joan Appreciation Post
Joan is one of the few reasons I’m being able to transition (nonbinary). I show my parents Thomas’s videos a lot and after I came out they went back to them and saw how Thomas respected Joan’s (and Talyn’s) identities and treated them like normal humans.
Having these examples allowed them to understand me better and start to respect me and my identity.
So thanks for being a visible human!
I return yet again with more dumb puns 🎉🎉🎉
So I made these bc I was bored and I love this photo of Thomas with my whole heart. I edited them all on my iPhone so the quality is kinda eeeh and it's not the best edit out there. If you use one as a profile pic please just credit me!
Found Family Sander Sides AU
So for the past few months my mind keeps wandering back to an idea for a Sander Sides AU. I doubt I’ll ever write. Maybe I’ll do some art for it or something. But here is the basic idea
- Thomas has always wanted kids. Yet he’s not too far from thirty, and he doesn’t even remember the last time he went out with a guy he genuinely liked.
- Joan is over for an impromptu mathorn of old NickToons; the duo ends up talking about kids. They tell Thomas about a pact they have with Talyn that if and when the two of them both decide they are ready to have kids, they’d co-parent. Not necessary romantic - just two nonbinary pals raising a kid two. Thomas is obviously supportive, although a little shocked that he didn’t know already.
- And after that Thomas can’t stop thinking about the idea of raising kids in a non-traditional way. He had always planned on adopting but figured he’d wait for someone to do it with. But maybe, he doesn’t need another person. At least romantically, He had his friends and parents and Joan (yes they get a separate category from friends because once you make a shirt out of pants and spit gum into the others’ mouth you’re family). And all of them would provide some help.
- So after a lot of talking through it with his mom and Joan, Thomas goes through all the steps he needs too foster to adopt.
- Months post everything getting in place, he gets a call from his social worker. And the next thing he knows ten year old Patton Morgan is brought to his house. He’s all dark brown curls and freckles and weirdly green eyes and energy. Thomas thinks he might melt from the sheer cuteness that radiates from this kid.
- Apparently, Patton has been moved around the foster system for sometime because of his ADHD and chronic migraine problems (the latter of which may or may not be based of the author’s own problems.)
- The two of the hit it off pretty quickly. Patton spends the better part of an hour or so asking him very important questions such as “do you like cats?” “Of course!” “Whatdabout dogs?”. The questions ends when Thomas makes a pun and Patton’s eyes light up which devoles in a pun battle.
- Over the next few weeks, they fill Patton’s new room with stuffed animals and drawings and photographs and boardgames and gotten him glasses which have helped a little with the migraines.
-Pretty soon Thomas can’t remember what his life was like without the kid. They’re making pasta together one night while blasting songs from Steven Universe (as per Patton request) when Patton says he loves him for the first time. Thomas just about bursts into tears. Hours later once the kid is asleep he calls Terrance and Joan and everyone else he thinks would be up to tell them.
- The day Patton is officially adopted is a big deal. Thomas’s parents throw a huge surprise party. There are all sorts of cakes and sweets. Patton also changes his last name to Morgan-Sanders
- And Thomas wakes Patton (who definitely fell asleep in fancy, blue dress Valerie gave him) up early the next day much to the kid’s displeasure because “dad, isn’t it Saturday?” Thomas says it will be worth waking up early, and carries the kid out to the car. Twenty minutes later they are at the pet store, and Patton doesn’t stop bouncing the minute his is unbuckled.
- They return home with a year old puggle (pug beagle mix) who Patton promptly names Cakes (”Cause then we can be Patton Cakes!”)
I have plans for the others but this is already pretty long. If this gets any notes, I’ll talk about Roman and Logan’s story next (since they are the next chronologically. Sorry, Verge.) I also have more details about Patton as he gets older, and Joan and Tayln’s future but I figured this was a good place to end it.
HI HAVE I TOLD YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM
