A/N: Hey, so if y’all are still around, thats fucking awesome. I’ve been going through quite a few changes in my personal life, and it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. I also received quite a bit of hate back in December, so I decided to scale back all of my writing (because even if the stuff said wasn’t true, that shit still hurts to hear.) But I do have two and a half imagines done, which I will be posting within the next day or so, so enjoy, and who knows, maybe I’ll eventually be able to do these properly.

"Hey (y/n), how was that concert last night?" Conrad's voice rang throughout your small apartment, as you rolled over and back into cocoon of blankets. He was perky, and obviously had one too many of those damn energy drinks. You close your eyes, trying to ignore the headache that could have been from the drinking from the night before or the music that's still ringing in your ears.
"Ugh, god Conrad, what time is it?" You murmur, your brain begging you for more sleep.
A light chuckle fills the space, and you can't help but smile at the sound. Conrad's been your best friend for some time now, you met in med school and been pretty inseparable since. You've been spending nights relieving stress together for almost as long. After years of sleeping together though, and only ever remaining as friends, you've begun to become frustrated with him. So last night, for the first time in years, you spent the night with another man.
Or at least, you spent the concert with him. He was an ass, and you quickly ditched him once the concert was over. The large crowd easy for losing anybody in. But she realized, on the bus ride home last night, that she only had gone out with him to try and make Conrad jealous. To try and spur him to want and desire something more from yourself. "Its, uh, noon."
"Noon? Seriously?" You groaned rolling from you cacoon again to snatch your phone from your nightstand. You have to get ready. Your phone lights up as another face pops up in the user ID. "Crap, I gotta go, someone else is calling me."
"Oh is it Nic, she has a question for you." Conrad replies, still sounding chirpy.
"No, it's the guy I went to the concert with last night." You reply, irritated that the moron didn't get the message last night.
"Wait, is he a friend of yours or-" He sounds confused. Good.
"I'll talk to you later Conrad," You sat up in your bed. "Ok google, hang up!"
Conrad's response was cut off as your home automation system hung up on the call.
You don't bother answering the other guy, Thomas's call. Instead you shoot him a text telling him exactly what you thought of him before getting ready for your shift.
You arrive at the hospital, and don't run into Conrad for a couple of hours, which is odd. When you finally see him-and he sees you-he takes off in the other direction before you can even wave. Eventually you find Nic, once things in Peds has calmed down. "What the hell is Conrad's problem?"
Nic shrugs sympathetically. "I don't know, he was fine this morning, and then around noon he started acting like an ass. He's even managed to yell at Bell three times today. Which is a record."
"Oh yikes, he completely ignored me earlier." You complain, leaning against the nurses desk as Nic rounds it to join you.
"Lucky you, he's been incredibly short tempered with me today." Nic crosses her arms in front of her chest as you thought about your earlier conversation, and how upset Conrad seemed to feel about the idea of you seeing other guys. "Jessica even told him he needed to go take a walk. He was shocked enough to actually do it." Nic recounted. "Any ideas what its about?"
You purse your lips and look over to meet Nic's questioning gaze. "Yea, I think I have an idea. I'm gonna go find him."
Nic knows, she has to, based off the way her eyes widen and she opens her mouth to speak, before closing it and shrugging her shoulders.
"Thanks for the encouragement. I'll see you in a bit."
"I hope it goes well." Nic responds casually as you and her split up and head in opposite directions.
"Me too." You mutter to yourself as you begin your journey to find the mythical Conrad.
You find him, right where you had left Nic earlier, about an hour later. He doesn't see you coming until it's too late and you already have an arm around his shoulders. You feel him tense beneath your arm and you pull him close.
"Hey buddy, how's it going?"
"Fine." Not only is his response short, but so is his tone.
“Whats up, why are you mad?” You ask, tired of not just talking through any problems between the two of them.
“Listen, it’s nothing. Why don’t you go call your new boyfriend-”
“That's what this is about?” You knew exactly what this is about, but hearing him say it, hearing the jealousy, and seeing it in person made your heart race.
“Yes, (y/n), that's what this is about.” He places his clenched fists on the counter as he looks everywhere but at you, his jaw clenched. You dropped your arm from his shoulder then rested a hand on his fist. Once again, you felt him tense beneath you, so you drop your head against his shoulder.
“Why don’t you and I go talk?” It's silent for a moment, before he looks down at your smiling face. His face switches from anger to confusion.
“What?”
“Conrad, you’re the one I want to be with. The only one I want to be with. If you’ll let me.”
He pulls you into a nearby, empty patients room so quickly that your heads spinning. He slams your back up against the wall before he cups your face and plants a strong kiss against your lips and your knees are weak as he lets his hands begin to linger downwards. He’s panting as he pulls away and your hearts hammering in your chest as your own chest heaves. “Hey (y/n), would you like to go on a date with me, tonight?”
You lean in and steal another kiss before you pull away, dragging his hands down to your hips and pulling yourself against his chest. “Does that mean what I-”
“Will you be my girlfriend?” He asks, stealing another kiss as his hands began to caress your back and hips.
You answer with another kiss, as the two of you thrust yourself into the throes of passion.

Warnings: Panic Attacks, Vague medical knowledge from the writer,
Word Count: 1168
A/N: Hey there Residents! Long time no talk, I know, I know. I want you all to know that I haven’t forgotten about you all! I actually have the next few typed up I just have to format and queue them up for all of you to enjoy! With the show back, my motivation will probably skyrocket for a bit, so hopefully, I might be able to knock out quite a few on my list. What were all of your feelings on the premiere? I’d love to hear them, feel free to send me an ask or leave a comment on this post. Also, how often do you guys want to see me post another imagine? daily? Weekly? Every ten minutes? Also, would it be realistic for me to ask for donations and in exchange, a reward for anybody who is willing to help me out? Just some thoughts I wanted to run by you all. Thank you all for the support, and enjoy!
Conrad entered the room, his eyes adjusting quickly to the darkness that surrounded him. “Hey (Y/N), are you here?”
He noted that it was a little weird that all the lights were off, considering that (Y/N) was almost always up later than he was, whether it be working on her own novel or getting lost in someone else's novel. Her office door was closed just down the short hallway, and there weren't any lights shining through under the door. “(Y/N)? I brought home food from Panda! I got you double orange chicken?”
Stepping further into the room, Conrad dropped his backpack and helmet on the couch and walked past it. He entered the kitchen, looking for a note or anything that would hint to where his girlfriend had disappeared to. He set the bag of food on the countertop and grabbed a water from the fridge before continuing down the hall, determined to find her.
He opened her office door and didn't find her, rather the remnants that she'd been there recently. Paperwork scattered across her desk instead of organized as she'd left it every night when she was done for the day. 'Can't be too far, that mess would give her an aneurysm.’
He shut the door as he left the room, the mechanisms catching with a soft click. Right after, he heard the faint sounds of someone breathing heavily a little further down the hall, towards the bedroom. Conrad hurried his pace a bit as he entered the room.
The bed wasn't made, rather it looked like someone had just gotten out of bed. “(Y/N)?” He called softly. No one was in the bedroom, but he could hear the faint sounds of gasping coming from the bathroom. Conrad hurried to the bathroom, throwing his water on the bed as he reached the bathroom door.
He didn't throw it open like he wanted to, instead, he opened it carefully to find (Y/N) sitting with her back against the wall beside the toilet, her legs splayed out in front of her. Her chest was heaving and her breaths escaped her body in short gasps. Her hand clenching and unclenching.
Conrad allowed an explicit to escape his mouth as he rushed forward, dropping to his knees beside her. Her eyes weren't open so he made the assumption that perhaps she didn't hear him come in, so he called out to her once more. (Because the alternative was possibly being hit, and that was never fun.)
“(Y/N), it's Conrad. Ok Honey, it's me. I'm gonna take your pulse, so don't hit me.” He placed a hand on her neck and was immediately met with the hammering of her pulse slamming against the skin of her neck and his fingertips.
He pulled his hand away a moment later and looked down at her, and saw tear-filled eyes staring back at him. Panic and fear clouding her typically clear blue eyes. “(Y/N), can you hear me?”
She nodded her head jaggedly, her mouth opened in the shape of a yes, but no words escaped past the grip of her gasps. Conrad had already done a quick cursory glance for any injuries or any signs of sickness and hadn't found anything.
He smiled reassuringly at her as realization dawned on him. “Do you know where you're at?”
Another nod.
His smile remained reassuring as he grabbed her hands and knelt down, in front of her. “Good, that's good. Your heartbeat is really fast right now, but I think you're having a panic attack.” She nodded her head in agreement, and Conrad was ashamed to realize that she has had panic attacks before, and he didn't know.
“Have you taken anything for it?” Another quick nod, and Conrad realized that it was now a waiting game.
“That's good, really good (Y/N), so what I want you to try and do is start breathing through your abdomen, ok, as deep of a breath as you can? Breathe with me, ok?” Conrad placed her hands on his chest as he took deep breaths, trying to calm his own racing heart.
After a few breaths, the gasps turned into halted breaths, and he smiled at the quick progress. “You're doing awesome, now I want you to imagine yourself in a safe place, something you like. Like in your favorite book, or up north, riding through the fields of wheat on your horse, Skip.” A smile peaked at her lips and Conrad smirked back at her.
“Good, that's good. So, I read some of that book you've been hounding me about during a lull today, and you were right, I'm hooked.”
She drew in a deep breath, and he smiled too as she shakily exhaled. “The one by, by Palmer?”
“Yea! The medical descriptions are garbage, but I liked the police procedural part of it.” Conrad continued, sitting down beside her, his back against the wall, their shoulders inches apart.
“Those are garbage too. That is why it's so good.” She whispered, leaning her head back against the wall again as she gripped Conrad's hand like she would never let go.
“Well, I'm a doctor, not a cop. How was I supposed to know?” Conrad joked, as he placed a hand on her wrist, taking her pulse once again, covertly, and was pleased with the progress that had been made. It was still quick, but it was slowing down substantially.
“I'm sure she was thinking the same thing.” (Y/N) retorted, her voice shaking but stronger than the whispers from before. Raw and scratchy, but stronger.
“That woman is not a doctor, I promise you that.” Conrad joked as he turned to her, his smile, once reassuring, now joking.
“You know what I meant, asshole.”
They were silent for a few moments before Conrad cleared his throat. “You feeling better?”
“Sorta. I don't feel like death is trying to reap me but I feel pretty crappy still.”
“That's good. Why don't I get you settled in bed, and I'll bring in dinner if you want to try to eat?” Conrad suggested.
She was willing, so with a few fluid motions, Conrad swooped her into his arms and carried her from the bathroom and towards the bed, her pajamas from the night before, still on. He lied her down on her side of the bed, then ran out to the kitchen to grab the food.
The two sat, while Conrad ate and (Y/N) picked at her chicken. She fell asleep shortly afterward, her food hardly touched, in her lap.
When Conrad was certain that she was asleep, he grabbed her food from her lap. He left, leaving her with a kiss on her forehead.
After putting everything away, Conrad slipped into her office and began to organize her paperwork, knowing that in the mornings to follow, he would inquire about her medical history. But for now, he was going to allow her to wake up tomorrow with a clean slate.
Can you do one where Conrad is in a friends with benefits relationship with the reader and he gets jealous? Thank you very much 💕 also sorry if there are some mistakes, English is not my first language

Conrad / Nick / Jude - Purple
Pairing: (Friendships - Conrad x Jude x Nic)
Warnings: Injuries in the vague, Nic rolls her eyes a lot, soooo if that tells you anything, some grown-up language
Word Count: 1126
A/N: This prompt tripped. me. up. I asked so many people how the color purple made them feel before I finally realized that a bruise was the same color...soooo. Haha. I’m sorry. That and then I am participating in Whumptober, so whump is on the brain. That being said, if you request a prompt, can you do me a favor and explicitly state whether you want the characters you listed in a relationship or just friends. I left this one sort of open to interpretation, but I want to do exactly what someone would want, soooo yea! Thank you all for the continued support, and I’ll see you on the next one!

“Hey, Nic,” Jude's voice carried through her radio speakers and into the air around her. She smiles at the smooth tones.
“Jude, hi.”
“So,” he clears his throat and then there's some shuffling before another voice starts shouting something from somewhere in the background. Nic glances at her car radio, the source of all the noise, before looking straight ahead at the road again. “Our dumbass friend was a dumbass.”
Nic rolls her eyes, as she hears a clearer objection in the background. “-absolutely not!”
“What’d he do?” Nic asked, contemplating heading in there direction, thankful that she has a well-stocked first aid kit in the back.
“It's nothi-”
“Shut up, you’ve lost all opportunity to talk,” Jude yells, into the mouthpiece, but not at her. Nic spends a moment trying to figure out what's going on with the pair, knowing that it’s probably nothing but trouble.
When Conrad stopped yelling in the background, Jude began to speak again, this time to her. “So next time you see Conrad, don’t be mad, but he could use a ride home.”
Nic nodded, figuring that was exactly where this was going.
“Where are you guys at?” She sighed, and she could hear another objection in the background.
“Would you shut your mouth? You’re not riding a bike because you destroyed yours, and I doubt you feel like running! So shut up.” Nic’s confused but realizes the number of answers she can get over the phone aren’t going to satisfy her.
“Nic, we’re still at the park. We were supposed to help clean up-” Conrad's yelling again and Nic turns down the volume, anticipating Jude’s response as she mentally calculates her route.
“Conrad, I swear to god, if you make one say one more word-”
“You know what, I’ll talk to you when I get there.” Niic doubts Jude hears her as she ends the call in the middle of his rant.
She gets there quicker than she would have if she were just meandering along. She was five over the speed limit the entire way, and it was a subconscious effort of the worry she felt in her gut. She knew, that in theory, Conrad was probably fine. Especially with Jude there, so even if something was wrong, it was unlikely that the situation wasn’t under control. Especially because she’s seen both men at work.
What she was concerned about though, was Jude was clearly not wanting Conrad doing anything but going home, which wasn’t something that she saw Conrad doing willingly. Nic realized that’s why she was being called into the picture. Because while he was stubborn, Conrad would likely listen to her.
Probably.
She pulled onto the gravel driveway and pulled into the parking lot that was still filled with at least twenty vehicles. She almost didn’t find a parking spot.
She begins walking into the clearing before she spots Jude waving her over to the large medical tent. The worry deepens, but she ignores it as she makes her way through the clearing and up to Jude. She closer she gets, she can see the bandage that’s taped to his head and the faint red trails where blood would have trailed down his cheek, and then hastily wiped away. The bandage is surrounded by a sizable bruise that is twice the size of the bandage and spans down to his temple and cheek.
He smiles crookedly at her questioning gaze and points to his head. “It’s his fault, but it looks worse than it is.”
She gives him a skeptical look, “Alright, what happened?”
Jude smirked. “Our boy thought that cutting a corner would be a good idea-”
“Isn’t that against the rules?” Nic asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
“You know as well as I do that Conrad’s the reason there are rules,” Jude smirks, shrugging. Nic rolls her eyes and allows Jude to continue.
“His tire slid in the mud from underneath him, he lost control. Couldn’t brake, or go faster, but it didn’t stop him from trying. He hit a tree and ended up bouncing back onto the trail, and I hit him, and I must have hit my head against a branch. Then before you know it, there are twelve grown-ups stacked on top of one another.” Jude says it so casually, and Nic wants to balk at the thought. Twelve people is a lot of weight to be under, with who knows how many bikes thrown into the mix.
“Any severe injuries?” She asked, glancing at the wound on Jude’s head again.
He shook his head, “Nope, worst off was Conrad.” He motioned him to follow her towards the tent. He stops at the opening and points inwards, “Which is why I’m sending him home.”
Nic looks in and winces at the sight of her friend that lied before her. His shirt isn’t on, and she can see the distinct bruises of a bike, (bikes?) His eyes are shut, but he has a matching bandage on his head and the purple bruise is a sharp contrast in the yellow lighting. Hs right leg is being propped up by two pillows, his knee covered in ice packs and wrapped tightly.
“What's the damage?” She asks, speaking loud enough so that Conrad can hear her as well. He doesn’t stir so she makes the assumption that he’s asleep.
“I think he sprained his knee, it's pretty swollen and with his history, it seems likely that there is something wrong with it. He won’t go to the hospital to get it checked out though,” Jude throws up his fingers as quotations, “because he’s dealt with it before.”
Nic rolls her eyes for what feels like the umpteenth time. “Of course he has.”
“His heads hurting pretty bad, and he’s got a couple of broken ribs. So I gave him some pain meds to help, which I nearly had to shove down his throat.” Nic knows how Conrad is and isn’t surprised. “I think if he just rests until his next shift, he can get himself a pair of crutches and be fine.”
“Conrad, not running throughout the halls of Chastain? People are going to get suspicious.” Nic retorted.
“I’ll be running in two days,” Conrad calls from the tent, his words slightly slurred, presumably from the sleep.
“No, you will not be, asshole. Now go home, we don’t want you here anymore.” Jude calls as Nic goes to Conrad's cot.
“Whatever,” He opens his eyes and smirks up at Nic’s approaching form. “Hey.”
“Hey, let's get you home, so you can get some proper rest.” Nic smiles back and squeezes his hand as she prepares to help him sit up.
He groans in preparation. “Ok, maybe three days.”

Summary: given to me by a lovely anon (speaking of which, can I refer to you all as my own Residents?
This is so great I love this show and not enough people know about it! Can you do an imagine of Conrad and a patient in peds he’s known for awhile and is there for when her parents can’t be with her because they’re working so much
Pairing: (Friendship - Conrad/OC)
Warnings; Implied Cancer, Sick Children, Connrad with (not his) Children (but in a super freaking cute way)
Word Count: 778
A/N: As previously implied, I really like the idea of referring to you all as the Residents. So, in honor of season 2 of The Resident I have something for you all! Finally, I know. But as I have already complained about, its been a rough little bit of time. So I’m not going to make any promises about the next time that I am going to post something, but here’s to hoping for me. This one I tried to keep lighthearted (despite the seriousness of one of the underlying topics,) however the next one is going to pile on the angst. So enjoy, and plesae please please, feel free to tell me what you guys think!
He strode into the brightly colored room, his arms tucked behind his back inconspicuously as he smiled at the small figure in the bed, curled under layers of blankets. A bright pink and blue beanie all he was able to make out of the girl. He could hear noises coming from under the covers and could hear the familiar tones of Tangled as he heard her soft humming from under the covers. Conrad knocked on the wall twice as he strode in. “Hey pretty lady, how are you feeling?”
The rest of her head became visible as she popped out of her cocoon. A toothless smile gracing her young but taunt features. “Conrad, you came!” The frail voice shrieked joyfully.
“Of course I came, sweetheart. How are you feeling?”
“Cold, but my stomach is feeling better than it did after chemo. I ate jello today!” Conrad smiled at the news, feeling the familiar pang of wanting to take the girls pain while knowing that he couldn't. So he did the next best thing.
He strolled to her bedside and waited for her to mention something about how ‘obviously there was something behind his back.’ Jessica was young, but she was smart. She was very clearly suspicious but smiled largely. “Whatcha got there?”
Conrad offered his own smile and pulled out a rainbow colored bear from behind his back. “I saw it down in the gift shop and thought you would love it.”
Her smile grew larger still as he handed it to her and she immediately tucked it into her pile of blankets, beside her.
Conrad had met Jessica a few months prior after she had been brought in for some symptoms that, all of them combined, had left for an extremely sick little girl. Conrad had been her doctor at first and then had been the one to console her parents after they had been told of the long journey ahead of them.
After a long conversation, a few days after the girl had been admitted, Conrad quickly came to the realization that money was tight within the family and they weren't sure what all they were going to have to sacrifice to make sure that one of them was with her at all times.
By the end of the conversation, Conrad had sympathized with the family before offering any help that he could offer. Which meant that the doctor was with Jessica as often as possible, especially while her parents were out working. They called frequently, both had Conrad's cell phone number, as well as the number for Jessica's hospital room.
It didn't take long for Conrad to become the young child's 'very bestest friend in the whole wide universe.’ He accepted the title with pride and honor.
He sat on the edge of her bed and swung a foot up to run his leg parallel with her body. “Is that Tangled I hear?” He aimed for humorous with a hint of incredulous. He succeeded.
She immediately ducked back under the covers, a giggle following her movements. “I can't believe you're watching my favorite movie without me.” He pulled her into a light hug as he swung his second leg onto the bed, pulling the girl into his arms as he got the both of them comfortable.
“We can restart it!” The girl shrieked as Conrad pulled her beanie off, her head shiny in its wake. He pulled it down onto his own head, over his eyes, waiting for her to tear it off of him.
It happened moments later as her hand ripped it off and she smiled brightly up at him. She pulled her hat on to her own head again as they both settled. “It's ok, we can just continue from you're at. I'll just watch the beginning when I get home, pretty girl.”
She nodded as she pushed the tablet into his lap and she wrapped the blankets around the both of them as they focused on the movie.
Hours later, Conrad was shaken awake by a hand on his shoulders. He blinked a few times as he adjusted to the dark room, Jessica deep asleep in his arms. Nic smiled down at him as she took in the sight. “I'm about to head home, do you need a drive?”
He shook his head. “Her parents are working all night, I'm going to stay with Jess tonight.”
Nic’s smile didn’t waver, and she patted his shoulder as she readjusted the blankets around the two of them. “I'll see you in the morning then.”
“Thank you though, Nic.”
“Get some rest, Conrad.” Conrad was asleep again before he could hear the door close again.

Summary: (Based off a prompt given to me by @inlovewith3 )
Can you do an imagine with Conrad where he and the reader are ex lovers and the reader left town with no word now she's back in town after like 3 years as a surgeon. They run into each other and they talk
Warnings: Does a Broken Heart count? Angst, Generalized stress and anxiety, elevators? (I have a thing against them)
Word count: 1702
A/N: Ok, so I am terrible with romance and stuff but I would say this is a ... start? Haha, either way, I am under the impression that if the woman that I loved left me abruptly like the way you are about to read about, I would probably be pretty pissed. So I kinda channeled that mindset while writing this. That being said, I hope you guys enjoy and feel free to tell me you hate it. XD
(Y/N) knew that coming back was going to end up being a litany of emotions. Three years had gone by, almost to the day. Three years ago, she stood here as a third year surgical resident, with the perfect boyfriend, an amazing group of friends, and just an overall perfect life.
Until the day that she had left. Her fear of commitment ruining everything she had tried so hard to build.
Now here she was, a surgeon. A damn good one at that. She was hoping that she could ace the interview to be able to come back to where it all started for her. To fix everything that she had broken and be able to go back to what it used to be. To come back home.
(Y/N) didn’t know where, or even if any of her friends, her crew, were still here. Maybe some of them had drifted away after she made her sudden and abrupt leave. She couldn’t blame them if none of them wanted to see her again, even if they were still all here. She also knew that she couldn’t worry about that right now. She had spent too much time dwelling in those thoughts on the flight when she should have been focusing on how to impress the person who was about to hire her.
She did still kind of hope that she would run into someone.
She walked the familiar path to the elevators, her heels already irritating the bottoms of her soles. She’d stupidly worn them on the flight, so she should have known that they would hurt. Especially by now. The elevator slid open as she approached, as a family exited it. She slid into it and settled herself into the back corner, leaning against the railing to try and take some of the weight off her feet. She leaned forward and pressed the button for the fifth floor then leaned back again. She pulled her phone out and forced her attention to a couple of the notifications.
Somebody slid an arm into the doors right before they shut, forcing them back open, allowing the person in. She finished the post she was reading, before she looked up to the second individual resting against the side wall of the elevator, facing away from her.
The man was a little taller than her, which really wasn’t saying much. His hair was a controlled chaos that comes from years of practice. He was tapping out a rhythm on his blue scrub pants, his other hand came up and rubbed a hand through the messy blonde locks. His jacket that rested on his shoulders was a dull grey, probably just to keep him warm in the cold climate of the hospital.
She knew though. The moment he had stepped foot into the elevator. The cologne that she had spent a full two years picking on him about because she could never find it in stores. The smell that never really lifted from the jacket she stole from him. It was him, the perfect boyfriend.
Conrad Hawkins.
She could only gawk as the elevator doors opened and he strolled out without a glance at her. Her heart pounded as the doors closed again.
*****
The interview was just like every other interview that she had experienced in her lifetime. She had been nervous (that sort of run in in the elevator, did not help those nerves,) but she was also confident. She was a good surgeon. Hell, a great one. All she wanted was that opportunity to come back home. Back to Chastain.
She was walking around the fourth floor, where Conrad had gotten off at before. Hoping to find a trace of him somewhere. She had been walking for a few moments before she stopped at a nurses station, a familiar face staring down at the charts in her hand. (Y/N) cleared her throat hoping to garner Nic’s attention. It did just that, startling the young blonde from her thoughts.
“I’m sor- oh my god, (Y/N)?” Nic asked incredulously, stepping closer to the counter, a welcoming smile on her face.
“In the flesh.” (Y/N) responded, shrugging her arms sarcastically, “or at least that's the name they call me.”
Nic rounded the corner, throwing herself at (Y/N), “You look so good,” Nic pulled away, “and where have you been? What are you doing here?”
“Nic, I promise that I’ll answer any questions, but how about over dinner? Tonight?” (Y/N) suggested, pulling away from Nic and gripping her arms in her hands affectionately.
Nic nodded her head at the offer. “Sounds good, where at?”
“How about that place we all used to go? Is your phone number still the same?” (Y/N) asked.
“Yes and yes. So since you obviously didn’t stop by to talk, is there anything I can help you with?” Nic asked, a joking smirk on her face. She grabbed the previously forgotten chart from the other side of the counter.
(Y/N)’s smile never wavered as she watched Nic round up everything that she needed, before turning her attention back to (Y/N). “Actually, so you think you can point me towards Conrad?” A sheltered look suddenly appeared on Nic’s face, and (Y/N) backtracked. “I have a lot of people that I have to apologize to.”
Nic smiled a sad smile, “A little bit, you leaving hurt a lot of people.”
(Y/N) felt a tug at her heart, “I know, but I left him to wake up alone. I owe every single person that I left an apology, but I really owe him one, please?”
Nic sighed, the chart dropping to her side. “He’s probably in the lounge, his shift just ended.” (Y/N) smiled, and began to walk off, knowing that she would see Nic later on. She stopped as Nic called out to her again.
“(Y/N), its been rough around her recently, especially for him.” Nic formed her next words carefully. “He’s not the same as when you left him.” (Y/N)’s heart sank as she continued to smile at Nic.
“Thanks Nic.”
Muscle memory-guided her towards the lounge. She still was unable to recognize most of the people that she walked past. She was lost in her own thoughts as she continued her trek, navigating the hallways like she was just running through them yesterday, causing trouble all while saving the day. Most of the time.
Turning one of the final corners, she ran right into someone. Reaching out, she grabbed onto the shoulders of the person in front of her. Partly for her own stability, partly to offer a genuine apology to the victim of her clumsiness. She looked up from the stubble covered chin and into the eyes of the person and was shocked to see the man she was looking for.
Based on the expression that fluttered across his face, she felt it was safe to assume that the feeling was mutual. It clearly was not the only thing he felt by seeing her, being in (Y/N)’s grips. It didn’t take long for him to slip into a more neutral expression, a slight shit-eating grin that almost hid everything that his eyes were clearly displaying for the world.
He didn’t offer any words, instead, he slipped from the grasp, he shook his head once then spun on his heel, away from her and back down the hallway he came from. She followed. “Conrad.”
He ignored her the first time, and then when she tried again. It was only after she stopped, and yelled at, him did he stopped. He didn’t turn to her, instead, he stood there staring at the wall in front of him. “Conrad, I’m sorry. Please, just talk to me.”
He shook his head, “There isn’t anything to be said, (Y/N).”
She took a step forward, like a predator hunting its prey. “Look, I know, I messed up. Badly.” Conrad made a noise, somewhere between a chuckle and a sigh.
“That doesn’t really cover it all.”
“Look at me Conrad, please let me apologize.”
The two stood in silence for a few moments before he turned to her, slowly. She was startled to see the pain that stood out most on his face. The type of pain that only came from losing someone that you loved. “Ok, apologize to me. Tell me that you're sorry for leaving, and then leave again-”
She felt the tears well up in your eyes as the anger began to drown the pain. “Conrad, please-” the plead fell quietly from her mouth as he took another step closer to her. His finger pointing at her, trembling with emotion.
“No, you have no right coming back here after you,” the words got stuck in his throat as he looked at the woman that he used to love. That a part of him still did. She looked about as close to crying as he felt, and suddenly his anger quelled, knowing that anything he said now would only be said out of the anger and shock that he felt. So instead he dropped his hand and took the step back. “I loved you, (Y/N). You left. I had to stay behind and try to pick up all the pieces.”
He took another step back as he came up to the next turn in the hall. “Right now is not a good time, and I don’t know if there will ever be a right time. So I’m sorry that you didn’t feel like you could trust me to help you through whatever you were going through, but I don’t think I can ever accept an apology for that.”
“Conrad, let me try, please-” Her hand reached for him, but stopped short as he took another step away from her.
“I was going to ask you to marry me, (Y/N). I still have the ring.”
He left the conversation with that as he backed off, allowing one more glance at her before he scurried away as quickly as he could.
Leaving (Y/N) to her thoughts and an empty hospital corridor, tears streaming down her face.
