I’ve decided to be nice to the fluff-lovers and make a guide on my fics to help readers know which to read and which to avoid (or read, if they dare).
Fics will be listed from most angsty to least angsty with tiers to categorize them.
I hope this helps all my fellow fluff-loving readers!
Dead Dove: Do Not Eat
dragon blood - If you love fluff and happy endings, then DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT read this fic! All you will find here is blood and grief and sadness and death. If you’re like me, however, and you love watching your favorite character die in a horribly painful fashion, or if you’re able to steel your nerves for this, then read to your heart’s content.
phoenix tears - This is the sequel to “dragon blood” that delves into grief, so again, if you want to see all your characters have a happy ending, then... don’t.
No Air - Written for Whumptober Day 2: Choking, it has violence, psychological torture, physical torture, and mental anguish. Proceed at your own risk.
no tears left to cry - This is, essentially, a vent fic for myself. I wrote this to help my process emotions and thoughts I had during a dark time in my life. Will contain mature, sensitive topics and triggering content. TW: d*pression, s**cidal thoughts
Character Death (But Manageable)
The Dishonored Blade - Okay, so it has character death, but 1. it’s character death with a twist, and 2. it ends bittersweetly. So if you can stomach character death with a bittersweet ending, then go right ahead.
Kataang 100 collection - A lot of these drabbles have mentions of character death, but since it’s only 100 words, it doesn’t go into... graphic detail. Plus, there’s some fluffy drabbles in there, so take it as you will 🤷♀️
letting go - Ficlet written for a kataang-prompts dialogue prompt. Does have MCD, but it’s not... in-your-face, like “dragon blood” and “phoenix tears,” so take it as you will.
Minor Angst
the avatar's fear - There’s angst in here, but it’s angst as introspection, and no one dies. It’s just a character study of Aang (including his grief and pain), so if you’re fine with this, then go right ahead!
The Artists' Collection - There’s just one drabble that’s outright angsty, but the rest should be... fine? I mean, there’s canonical character death in one of them, but it should be okay.
Kiss 22 - Again, there’s angst, but no one dies and most of it is pretty fluffy :D
never one (without the other) - This is mostly Kataangst and pining, with a dash of someone almost dying, but this is mostly a character study observing Aang and Katara in an alternate timeline where they don’t get together right away and somehow still find their way back to each other.
i see them - A oneshot that looks at Aang’s grief for the Air Nomads through his eyes. Sort of like “the avatar’s fear,” but less comprehensive and more focused on a singular aspect.
teach me how to live my life (because I can't remember how) - A Katara-centric fic that deals with colonialism/assimilation and its effects on the SWT. This is definitely one of my more emotion-driven fics and does involve angst, but in the sense of the anguish of losing one’s culture, over and over again
i lost it all again (can you help me find it once more?) - the sequel to “teach me,” this Katara-centric fic tackles cultural appropriation and how Katara reacts to one particular instance of it. Definitely angsty, but I hope the ending serves as an encouragement to anyone who needs to hear it
tell me (every moment was worth it to be alive) - a fic in which Aang writes a letter to Gyatso. Angsty in the sense that it contains themes of guilt and grief/mourning, but I hope this fic is more moving than sad.
Completely Safe To Read
An Honest Conversation - It’s literally just a conversation between DR!Katara and OG!Aang. That’s it. More introspective than anything else.
Opposing Elements - Definitely just introspection. Nothing that would warrant any warnings.
meeting you (for the first time) - A fic in which Aang takes Katara to meet Gyatso in the Spirit World. Filled with fluff, mostly.
Writing tracker
Apparently nothing gets me in the mood to write as much as opening online classes, so I’ll make a list of all the fanfics I’m writing at the moment so I can have some resemblance of order. Also a reminder that I can only touch these files once I finish my university classes:
Finish the last chapter of rare is this love; keep it covered. Third chapter posted, fourth chapter to be finished
Finish the 4th chapter of in her smile was kept my whole world
Finish translating the Pansy x Ron (working title: awake my soul)
Finish that other Thirster/Thasmin fanfiction. Actually, decide first if I actually have the guts to write it.
Add the extra scenes for awake my soul and decide if it’s gonna be a one shot or multi chapter
Give some substance to the Finnrey fix it (it’s 90% dialogue now, it needs actual text lmao)
Write the first chapter of the soulmate Ravenbell (I may have to rewatch some episodes from season 1, so that’s low on my list of priorities)
