didnt want to put this in the tags on the last post but it used to make me upset that transmasc shuichi was the most popular fandom interpretation of him back in the ndrv3 heyday. like i get canonically on-screen he's a guy so its more popular to headcanon him as a trans guy but i always felt like it kind of ignored his relationship with femininity. there were also less-than-charitable people who made him a trans guy so he could take on a Particular Role in their yaoi fics but that kind of happens in every fandom.
its kind of the same way i feel about laios from dungeon meshi. anytime there's textual basis for a transfem reading of a canonically male character, i see a dozen more transmasc interpretations pop up even if they don't make sense almost as if trying to drown out the idea that god forbid this character could be a trans woman
