Sharp accusations hang heavily between them, Lucifer’s rising tone piercing deeply. Briefly, Carmilla lowers her gaze, gathering thoughts that prove far more difficult to shape into words than anticipated; still, her expression remains composed upon meeting familiar golden eyes.

“I will not insult you with empty platitudes,” she begins, settling once more into her seat across from him. Her posture remains impeccable as ever, though her folded hands tighten briefly against her knee before flexing apart once more. “I did what I felt I had no choice but to do. Vox is many things, and I harbor no illusions regarding his character, but my motivations were never aligned with his. At the time, I saw only a means to protect my daughters. As a parent yourself, Lucifer, surely you understand better than most the lengths to which we will go to ensure our children's safety.”

In the silence following her words, a crease momentarily appears between her brows before her expression gentles, something warmer, more earnest taking its place. “Understanding my reasoning does not erase the damage done, nor absolve me entirely from responsibility. I deeply regret the harm my actions caused you personally; please believe that your suffering was never my intention.” A soft breath slips from parted lips. “I would never presume to demand forgiveness. All I ask is that you consider my position, as a mother, as your friend, and perhaps allow me the opportunity to begin repairing the trust I have damaged.”

               WORK   FOR   THE   DEVIL,   THE   KING   OF   HELL,   AND   HE   would   be   among   the   highest   in   Hell?   It   sounded   right   where   he   wanted   to   be,   well,   it   exceeded   where   he   wanted   to   be,   but   that   was   fine   with   him.   However,   there   was   something…   avoidant   in   Lucifer’s   gaze   and   voice.   Alastor   couldn’t   place   it.   Are   you   going   to   pass   this   up?   No.   He   didn’t   want   to.   Whatever   Lucifer   didn’t   want   to   share,   Alastor   was   sure   he   would   find   out   one   way   or   another,   and   work   around   it   if   need   be.   

                  HE   TOOK   A   STEP   FORWARD   WITH   HIS   WIDE   GRIN,   AND   reached   out   to   take   hold   of   Lucifer’s   hand.   The   deal   with   The   Devil   was   locked.   The   prospect   alone   sent   a   thrill   through   him   which   brightened   his   eyes.   The   power   hungry   beast   roared   in   his   belly   as   the   deal   was   sealed   with   the   shake   of   their   hands,   “   I   must   say,   this   was   not   the   outcome   I   expected   when   you   invited   me   to   kick   you,   ”   he   hummed   in   delight,   “   What   an   interesting   turn   of   events,   wouldn’t   you   say?   ”

Truth  be  told,  this  wasn't  the  outcome  Lucifer  thought  of  either  after  the  start  of  his  request  to  have  Alastor  kick  him.  Was  this  fate?  that  he  would  hear  some  sinners  talk  about.  𝐍𝐎.  𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐄  was  just  a  word,  a  concept  made  up  by  humans  to  explain  certain  scenarios  they  got  themselves  in,  and  they  would  assume  it  was  predetermined  by  something  『or  somebody』divine.  It  left  a  foul  taste  in  his  mouth.

As  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑  𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒  take  hold  of  each  other,  a  spark  of  something  foreign  courses  through  the  fallen  angel.  A  warm  buzzing  feeling  that  he  couldn't  give  a  name  to.  Crimson  eyes  glowing  as  his  wings  unfold  themselves  behind  him,  spreading  out  like  stretched-out  limbs.  In  a  way  they  were  the  extension  of  him.

After  the  whole  spectacle  was  done  and  over  with,  Lucifer  could  finally  get  down  to  business.  ❝  I  have  a  small  list  with  names  of  those  I  want  punished.  I'll  inform  those  who  need  to  know  that  you  are  working  for  me;  just  don't  make  a  big  show  out  of  it  all.  I  hope  you  can  work  with  discretion.  ❞  This  is  going  to  be a  𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 time.

An ear flicked for a moment, lips pressing together slightly as she thought over her reply, "No rest for the wicked. I could not seem to quiet my mind on this night."

Which was often than not, but she wouldn't tell him that. She turned away from him, silently cursing at the fact that she didn't even know what she was grabbing yet her shadow helped her collect up a small cup filled with warm earl gray. With a soft hum, she took a small sip before turning towards him once more, "You know, sire, it would probably help to not drink something so sweet if you desire to rest that head of yours. To quiet that mind. I would suggest a small nightcap to help."

Finishing her cup, she turned slightly and reached out with her hand, hoping that she would touch the counter but she didn't, her balance off a bit as she dropped her cup in surprise to catch herself. She softly swore, ears lowering as she heard the cup shatter against the ground. Guess the jig is up. He'll mock her, laugh at her and tell her that she shouldn't be a hotelier.

An  eyebrow  was  raised  at  the  suggestion  of  him  swapping  out  the  sugary  hot  drink  for  the  warm  liquid  that  is  used  as  a  sleeping  aid.  ❝ ……. ❞  He  listens  while  sipping  his  hot  cocoa.  Seeing  her  stumble  did  not  go  unnoticed  by  Lucifer;  instinctively,  he  wanted  to  reach  out  and  try  to  catch  her  or  at  least  soften  her  fall.  𝐁𝐔𝐓  𝐇𝐄  𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓.  Then  he  started  to  ask  himself  how  this  could  have  happened  to  her.  Wasn't  she  able  to  see?  The  kitchen  was  lit  up  enough  for  the  both  of  them  to  see  what  was  happening…  wait…
