Really been thinking of Ivan Karamazov and Pavel Smerdyakov lately...

Smerdyakov is undoubtably a shadow in the narrative, but I definitely think it was through Ivan that we got the most insight into his psychology. Oblivious leader and manipulative follower dynamic sooo interesting. Ivan is the most intelligent brother but Pavel is the most clever.

Also made Pavel shorter here than my original design because I think a drastic height difference between he and Ivan would be so goofy. and Pavel being small would reinforce how he's errrr not noticed or cared about by literally anyone, for lack of better phrasing. Plus its explicitly mentioned that his mother Lizaveta Smerdyashchaya was very tiny. and it would also explain how he's literally somehow carried up all the cellar steps while having a seizure??? It'd be easier to do if he was small I think.

also deliberately making them carry some resemblance because Yes. I believe Fyodor Pavlovich is indeed the father to them both. I like to think Ivan maybe noticed similar features in the time when he would talk to him about his philosophy, but chose to ignore it because. no way i have the same eyes as this stupid lackey scum creature (spits indignantly) (shakes fist) !!!!
