Star and Sun would definitely be in the main cast of this AU if I could just figure out WHERE in the timeline their games would fit!!
Star and Sun are the heroes of light from BS The Legend of Zelda and Ancient Stone Tablets. Their Zelda would be named Moon (get it? starlight, sunlight, moonlight). They’re twins: Star is the boy with the teal hair and baseball cap and Sun is the girl with the red hair
They were separated at birth and were raised by different people (somehow both being named Link?) until they meet on their first adventure at 13 years old and found out they were twins, from then they fought both of their adventures together and they have been inseparable since. I think they’d be a really fun duo to write because I love sibling dynamics.
Their games are non canon and were basically only released in Japan which is Fine because it gives me more creative liberty
But the Problem is
Where would they go timeline-wise??? AST occurs 6 years after ALTTP because Legend is absent for some reason. So maybe the Oracle games and Link’s Awakening happens in the six years before AST right?
And BS is basically LOZ1 (which is set way after Legend’s lifetime) so BS could occur maybe around the same time, probably before. But then what about Clover who does ALBW and Triforce Heroes? If Star and Sun do BS and AST, when would Clover go on his adventures? Would Star and Sun be the holders of the heroes spirit before or after Clover???
It hurts my brain… Maybe I’ll just make another timeline split after Link’s Awakening because I can. If someone has an idea, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Here's the beta designs for Star and Sun so far! Plus their Zelda whose nickname is Moon <3
(References under the cut)
In BS TLOZ and AST, their only unique in-game characteristics are Star's green hair and white baseball cap vs Sun's red hair and white ribbon, so playing around with different outfits for each of them was really fun!
I think they turned out alright for now, I'm especially proud of Moon's design. Star's outfit was a little difficult since the baseball cap doesn't match the vibe of the traditional green hero tunic so I just gave him a fancy blue cloak to hide it. And to match, I gave Sun a simpler red piece tied around the belt rather than over the shoulders
Sylvia made a post about wanting to become a ship engineer or whatever, and it made me think about other careers and stuff we wanted to be when we were growing up.
We were always at odds with what we wanted to do with our future. Conflicting interests were always at war, since we hadn't yet realized we were plural. We ended up on on path, but... It makes me wonder. Are we able to do more than this one?
vvvvv Venting vvvv
Syl wanted to write, draw, be creative. Get published, create a manga or web comic. Become an illustrator. She has a lot of resources at her disposal to pursue these avenues. We have a tablet (two even), laptop for writing... She very well could dedicate time to this. We even took a few courses in an art college that were incredibly beneficial for her to start working on foundational stuff.
Star wanted to problem solve. She wanted puzzles and problems and logic stuff. Growing up with computers, that meant computer engineering (software or otherwise). We have the means for this too. Plenty of computer access. Lots of learning opportunities online. We know enough for her to start making video games or programs or start making mods for certain open source things that we're interested in contributing to.
But... Me? I don't think i ever really wanted to do anything in particular. I just kinda wanted to be around in the night life. Goth clubs, punk bars... I- oh. Now i remember. I wanted to be in a band.
...
Mine was the most inaccessible to us growing up. The closest i got was rock band or guitar hero, but only at other people's houses. When i finally got my hands on a guitar, i was ecstatic. But... we were in a bad spot in our lives. I ended up giving it back to the person who gave it to me. The next time i got one, we were still struggling...Ultimately i decided to donate that one to a local youth program.
Why do i give away the things i want for myself?
My justification is that we just don't have the space or the means right now. And i keep hoping, maybe in the future... And i keep daydreaming. I keep thinking about the little bit I've learned from way back then, and listening to songs that i love... I would love to be vocals too. Write songs maybe even. I would want to start a YouTube or something, for acoustic to start, working up to electric and pedals and vocals and...
Sigh.
But all that requires housing stability. Something we just don't have right now.
One was just casually going about their end-of-life business (closing bank acct, last will, spending time with friends and family). Most likely cancer, given the calm and clarity.
The other was a lot more confusing and heartbreaking. If I had to make sense of it, I'd say it was probably someone who passed of old age, since their last day seemed to be an Alzheimer's episode. She went somewhere with her husband, left him in the car when she went in and came back out to find no one and the car missing. She was picked up by someone and driven across town while she searched her phone for his contact information and text history (distressingly, there was none). Person took her to a store where she started wandering in search if her husband but couldn't find him anywhere. It's like he deleted everything and stole every trace of himself away from her. She passed by a sample-clerk several times, who gently asked her if there was anything wrong, and when she explained, he led her to the customer service desk to be taken care of. But she wandered outside and got distracted by some construction workers where she talked about how her husband used to be a lineman and asked if they knew him or where she could find him. They empathetically distracted her by showing her some lizards while someone in the back made a phone call and the construction work came to a halt.
2. In a bank heist, which roles are you all filling?
4. If dropped in the middle of the wilderness, who would survive the longest?
5. Who is most likely to become famous? What for?
Sorry this one took me so long, I started to answer and then completely forgot to finish.
2. In a bank heist, which roles are you all filling?
Ohh, good question.
Planner of the heist: Me
Executioner of the heist: Sylvia (Guns blazing, barking orders, taking the lead)
Negotiator: Val
Look-outs: Me, The Butcher, Toboe
Getaway driver: Rose
Backup Getaway driver: Zephyr (waiting with a second vehicle some distance away for a hand-off)
Grunts: Umbra, Nyla, Doll (transferring money to bags, bags to truck, etc)
Bank Clerk: Astor (innocent)
Innocent bystanders: Vex, Echo
Honorable Mention: Star - hog-tied in the back of the truck cause she can't keep her goddamn mouth shut but she'll be important later on cause she's still willing to help bless her chaotic-neutral heart
4. If dropped in the middle of the wilderness, who would survive the longest?
Pretty sure it'd be Syl. She's done it before back Home, so she's got the most experience in it.
5. Who is the most likely to become famous? What for?
Star, hands down. She has pop/idol/magical girl energy radiating off of her. Insanely energetic and outgoing.
Iron Lung. We got tickets back in December, and the theater we're going to is over an hour away, and we've been planning for the trip for a couple weeks now. We plan to get a nice dinner and make it a date.
17. Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules?
I do. I tend to have incredibly bad luck, while Sylvia tends to have unusually good luck. Star has this weird thing where technology we have tends to constantly act up or break in odd and different ways like how our phone hotspot for some reason just stopped working for our work PC but works fine for everything else, even though fhe phone company says it wasn't turned off or anything.
Syl has us follow some of the lucky rules, but nothing seems to change my luck.
Carrying lucky items never really worked for us. So we don't carry any right now.
I'm pretty sure luck has to do more with the positive / negative energy that a person has that attracts or repels the person's preferred outcome of things. Syl is very positive and hopeful. Star tends to be blindingly positive/energetic. But I'm usually more mellow and have a more negative expectation of life.
