because of the abuse towards the kids in the orion foundation i’m sure the knd would have them under their radar which would pav a way for val & mitsuru to meet .
mitsuru is invested in the orion foundation & his past is very similar to that of a typical member , or seal , of orion . what if he was tasked with getting rid of any meddling knd operatives , one of them being val . maybe knd was trying to rescue the kids of orion & dismantle the organization as a whole .
the law is often paid off to work along side the orion foundation so it’s a large problem but something that would be fun to explore .

rui , like akaza , is a man eating demon child albiet 115 as oppose to akaza who’s like 300 or something . either way , rui is something of an urban legend as he & his family live on the top of a mountain in an abandoned house & rumoured to be ghosts ( because of their appearance ) . many high school & college students get dared to climb the mountain to find this ‘ghost’ family but no one who goes comes down because his family members devour them .
maybe val became friends with rui when she , along with other knd members , tried to keep people from ascending the mountain . since he appears to be a child ( he’s physically around 11+ years old ) maybe he’d fall under being protected by the knd ? though that would be before they knew that him & his family eat people ( but he doesn’t eat many because he doesn’t need the strength or nutrients )
over the years he hasn’t really adjusted to modern day technology so it’s be kinda sweet if val introduces him to different tech n stuff . she could totally show off & act all high & mighty with him cuz he wouldn’t know what she’s talking about . he’d let her ramble on , he’s a good listener .
oooh , & then comes the problem with the demon slayers . his family often kill demon slayers who come up to kill them & i’m sure val would possibly run into them at one point alongside rui . maybe this would make her question rui & if he’s really worth protecting ? there’s also the fact that rui is fairly abusive to his family ( his mother , father , older siblings & all ) . since he’s recognized as one of the 12 strongest demons underneath the demon king he can boss other demons around , including his family who consist of other demons who are not related him him or each other by blood . he just mutilated them to look related to him .
while he is pretty toxic , he is one of the few demons who is closest to the demon king who is able to break loose from the curse he has & become who was before he was a demon ( a lot kinder & the like ) . in the right circumstances he’d come back to who he once was but that’s something we can plot out ??

after getting his memory wiped from his time in the knd im sure the two would stay friendly even if he no longer remembers the true nature of their time together . since he’s still in that gang i think he’d push her away from hanging around him too much because he gets into fights a lot of the time while walking on the streets because of his affiliation , but val would be able to hold her own without a doubt .
