Despite my initial apprehensions I genuinely love how Lin being the goddess reborn has been handled(so far).

One trope I’ve always had a strong dislike for is when a character is religious in a fantasy world and by the end of the story it’s revealed their religion was actually 100% right. I feel like it takes away the point of religion, which is faith and believing in it even if you don’t have any direct evidence to support it.

But Lin being the Goddess reborn in The Ragpicker King is still an act of faith by the Ashkar who believe it. There’s no moment where Lin, or Aron, or the reader, or literally anyone else gets perfect solid conformation of who Lin is. It’s up to each individual person to decide for themselves what they believe.
