Alt!TCOM idea,

Rumi is the one who leaves instead of Mira and Zoey. Maybe she's a bit more self-depreciating in this one and ends up thinking,'The reason they're acting so out of character is because of me' and leaves to stay with Celine on Jeju.

Since the Duo is still in Korea, Gwi'ma's influence gets worse and worse. Rumi starts talking with Celine about the possibility of her stepping back from Huntr/x and maybe thinking about leaving Korea for a while.

Then Rumi discovers she's pregnant.

Holy shit, because that would change a lot about how the story plays out. I can still see a happy ending, but the fighting would be waaaay worse than what we've seen in the canon AU since Mira and Zoey haven't had a chance to gain some distance and clear their minds of Gwi-Ma's negative influence.

First off, Rumi leaving first turns the story into a slow, aching inversion; instead of being abandoned, she convinces herself that she’s the infection. After the Idol Awards fallout, she watches Mira and Zoey’s reactions curdle into explosive anger-based outbursts and since they don't remove themselves, Rumi can see their degeneration in real time. So, she does the most 'responsible' thing her self-deprecating brain can invent. She removes herself from the equation. A quiet exit in a mask and hoodie, with two duffle bags in the middle of the night. She doesn't risk saying goodbye in case they try to stop her, she just sends a text to them after leaving that reads like a plea for them all to take some time to heal. Jeju Island with Celine becomes like exile: Rumi tries to convince her inner omega to stay dormant to not yearn for her two alphas, because believing she was loveable feels like a mistake at this point.

Back in Korea, Zoey and Mira's souls rot from the inside. Without Rumi’s presence in the apartment, fueling their soul-bond and the Honmoon, Gwi-Ma’s residue has room to metastasize as their doubts grow worse and worse after realizing they've essentially chased Rumi away.

We already know Gwi-Ma's influence doesn’t talk to them like a villain monologuing, it feels like their own worst instincts turned up to a 10: Mira’s guilt becomes fury, Zoey’s need to people-please turns into a need for perfection, which becomes constant paranoia. Their dreams get meaner. Their tempers get shorter. They start training too hard to distract themselves, patrolling for too long, snapping at their staff without realizing why, misreading every headline about them as an attack, and somewhere in their endless spiral they realize the horrifying truth: Rumi wasn’t the trigger, she was their anchor. Their patterns would manifest much, much faster in this version of the AU, and they'd reconcile earlier than they did in the original.

On Jeju, Rumi talks about stepping back from Huntrix, about leaving Korea for a while, about how she can’t be the reason Mira and Zoey fall apart- she blames her lying for a lot of their struggles before they discover the truth. Then Rumi discovers she’s pregnant, and it isn’t a triumphant reveal, it’s a moment of dread threaded with longing; her inner omega lighting up with an instinctive, hopeful viewpoint while her logical mind spirals into How can I bring a pup into the world when I’m not even sure my pack loves me? The pregnancy becomes a ticking time bomb and a compass to the future all at once, because now it isn't just about her. It’s about the baby, the bond she’s avoiding, and whether she can trust Mira and Zoey to fight their way back to her before Gwi-Ma’s influence turns their love into something none of them recognize.

The pregnancy turns into a mirror that Mira and Zoey can’t dodge. Once they find out, it’s no longer abstract “we’re angry because she hid something,” it’s the blunt, terrifying reality that their anger could cost them Rumi and their pup for good. That pressure forces them to stop treating their rage like a righteous instinct. They have to admit the ugliest answer, that a chunk of what they’ve been feeling is actually fear and shame, amplified and sharpened by something external they don’t understand or are aware of yet.

It also rewires their priorities into action as alphas and future parents. Instead of spiraling separately, Zoey and Mira start working like a unit again, comparing nightmares, tracking moments where their reactions spike, then cross-referencing those spikes with demon activity and Honmoon fluctuations. The pregnancy becomes the reason they step towards accountability, because they can’t afford to keep being reactive. They have to shift into gear. If they want Rumi and their pup to come home, they have to prove that they can recognize what’s poisoning their minds and fight it, not take it out on the omega they love.

In short, this version of the AU would have a shorter timeline, might not include the miscarriage (that depends on how Rumi does in this instance), but would be waaaaay more emotionally traumatic in the long-haul. Zoey and Mira would not be having a good time if they stayed in Korea and Gwi-Ma's influence was able to poison them at full force. Without Rumi there, they definitely would have started fighting with each other.
