A lot is being said about Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights, but if you're up to watching an adaptation of a classic that is not disrespectful to the source material, there have recently been 2 quite decent The Count of Monte Cristo adaptations; a film and a series. Neither of them is styled with quotation marks around it, and both make changes, but they keep the spirit of the book. The series adapts it better bc it has more time to include events from the book, but if you don't have that much time, go for the film. Or better, watch both!

So I've sang a million praises to this scene by now, if I ever stop talking about it, I'm dead etc; this is a shorter clip of it, just the end as he leaves. For some reason, seeing "I'm sorry about the earrings" on its own gets me more. Also, as he walks away, it seems like she says "Edmond"? Her lips move as if she was saying his name.

I posted these posters (hehe. posted posters) before and I know it's funny (I still laugh about that 'can I copy your homework? sure just change it up a little' reblog) but can I just point out how well the colouring works for the respective actors?

Pierre Niney is dark, he has dark hair and brown eyes and he looks good in black, and that's the colour he wears all throughout the film, since he becomes the count. The sunset makes a nice contrast. Sam Claflin, OTOH, is pale, with deep seas of green-blue eyes. That shade of blue (navy blue?) suits him the best. Therefore, sea and waves are good features for his poster (I also associate him with water).

Alright, gang, we finally have a date for American release of The Count of Monte Cristo series. It will be available on PBS app from 1 March and starts airing on PBS from 22 March.

Btw, The Count of Monte Cristo series will finally air in France--starting on 11 December on France TV. Almost a whole year after it aired for the very first time. But if any country has an excuse, it's France, bc they did their own Monte Cristo film, so they don't really have to care about some Italian-made series. But there's Ana Girardot in the female lead role. The Franz actor is also French, but he's a newcomer.
