𖦹°‧ | Chapter IV of The Clock Pendulum Swings is now out!
This chapter is long overdue! Hopefully you all will enjoy! :] (Hopefully I'll be in time for a Halloween special soon...)
▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
CHAPTER SUMMARY: Something is unusual today. Kasane Teto is determined to find some kind of way out, leading her and Hatsune Miku to a salvation she confidently calls the Ultimate Escape. But, wacky distractions and uncanny shifts ensue, leading the busy, overworked Teto to wonder if she'll ever truly get to find a way out if all of this is merely bogging her down.
For new readers, here's the FANFICTION SUMMARY: Two women wake up in a world that they both do not recognize, and amongst the bright colors, false smiles, and terrifyingly unthreatening performances, painful hypnosis is a cornerstone of this weird reality they've found themselves in, and Teto Kasane, Miku Hatsune's best friend and colleague, is desperate to find a way out for both of them. Will Teto's Ultimate Escape plan ever work, or will they both forever be stuck in a cycle of inertia?

Explaining the lobotomy reference in TCPS.
Miku insists on Teto not feeling negative emotions, resulting in a form of emotional blunting. [1]
"Inertia" as a direct reference to a word Mesmerizer's lyrics mentioned, and the dormancy of their life. [2]
Below the cut are the connections.
i'd be down for hypnotist teto and whatever shenanigans that'd entail. same with hypnoTIZED teto
Me and Sage were VCing about this actually haha
I think it would be seriously cool, but as a warning, she likely would not be as sweet as she is now. Teto only remains sane and caring for the sake of Miku. If she were to throw that out of the window, she would be a horrible person without a doubt and use hypnosis to her advantage. To be honest, the "chimera" of escaping, and the concept of Miku as a whole is her only anchor to sanity.
Yes. Chimera literally means "delusion" as well. It's ironic, ain't it?
okay more official author confirmation stuff
kasane teto is probably the most idiotic protagonist I've ever written. In TCPS, the reason why she fixates on Miku's appearance so much (which does play a crucial role in the story, both of their appearances do) is primarily because she's in love with her and doesn't realize it because — surprise, TCPS!Teto has never been in love before. She just thinks it's how one feels about a childhood best friend.
I remember learning about unreliable narrators in Language Arts class, and a certain book (Tian Guan Ci Fu/Heaven Official's Blessing) was a big inspiration for TCPS, because of the protagonist being an unreliable, lovestruck narrator that sees the love interest as more beautiful than he is.
So, while Miku is canonically really beautiful in the fic (she has to be, both Miku and Teto are internet singers), it's doubled from Teto's perspective. She sees her as some walking goddess, but fully believes that's just how someone sees a best friend. It's left up to interpretation how they met in TCPS, but Teto and Miku have known each other for a very long time, and Miku was Teto's first friend. Plus, it's not explicitly stated, but Teto's kind of a lesbian in denial in TCPS. She fully believes she's straight.
For Miku... It's too complicated to explain, and you're not meant to know how or what Miku thinks. That's why the story is told from Teto's perspective.
