I just want you know I scrolled through your western wip and I am invested
🥹😭😭😭😭
Thank you so much! When it gets published posthumously I will be sure one of my grandchildren lets you know. 😅😅😅😅
I kid I kiiidddd it just Feels like that. To be fair to me, I have been thinking about maybe writing this story for uh a solid decade at this point but I only actually wrote a draft of it in 2022 and then fried my brain with work/life burnout while still trying to push myself to write it and have actually only made real progress in the last year+
And I really wanted to give you an excerpt but I can't find a new good one to share right now so uh: fun fact! Sonny spends a not small part of the novel trying to write a song about Lasater's exploits and is consistently foiled finding good rhymes for "Lasater" while Lasater refuses to tell Sonny his given name for the purpose. (Lasater knows his real name has plenty of rhyming potential and this makes the whole thing much more amusing to him personally.)

For all the frigidness of the rain Shade felt as though her blood would evaporate beneath her skin with the heat of her anger. She marched quickly into the forming fog, feet squelching across the sodden earth, but all she heard was Fell’s resigned silence as she retreated further into the grey light of early morning. Good, she thought bitterly even as a part of her sank with disappointment.
Meet Shade! This is a bit from my original work that I haven’t looked at in months 😪.. It’s nearest and dearest to my heart and has been for years, but a challenge to write. When I do pick it up again I think it will be to start fresh and rewrite. It’s not even close to what I want it to be yet...
send me a🌹 (rose) and 'll post one random sentence of a random WIP i'm currently writing
title: can’t believe that you’re in love with me summary: living in russia with his dream, with his love, yuuri finds himself lost in the feeling and melody. (victuuri songfic. happy birthday @wreckedheartbeats <3 may all your birthday wishes come true!)
Your eyes are blue, your kisses too I never knew what they could do I can't believe that you're in love with me
Yuuri listened to English songs to learn the language back in the United States. He loved listening to music already, and it was an effective way to learn the melody of English words blending together, like the song of conversation.
Celestino had really loved Frank Sinatra, so Yuuri learned English through love songs.
One season, he had used Frank Sinatra for his free skate, a song that he had fallen in love with. It was like a dream, teasing, enticing and mischievous, and yet still so full of love. He hadn't made it to the Grand Prix Final, but he'd had a lot of fun. Phichit loved to tell him just how much the audience got into his performance even if he couldn't do a quad salchow without tripping.
Even now, listening to it as he helped clean up a little, he swung his hips and pranced to the music. He hummed lightly, moving along with the free skate he had performed so long ago.
His earbuds in, he didn't even hear Victor walk in. He danced around, listening to the cadence of music, oblivious to the world, feeling the love that echoed in every note.
He felt gentle arms wrap around his torso, startling him out of his reverie. "What are you listening to?" came Victor's accented voice.
Yuuri felt a bit embarrassed at having been caught dancing like a fool, but was more pleased to feel Victor's arms around him. "Frank Sinatra," Yuuri answered. "A song I skated to a while ago."
"What, really? Let me listen!"
Yuuri laughed, and put one earbud into Victor's ear, gently. He started the song from the beginning, watching Victor's expression. Victor closed his blue, blue eyes just as the lyrics started, and Yuuri found himself humming along.
“This song is so wonderful,” Victor murmured, leaning in close to Yuuri. “Is it about anyone in particular?”
Yuuri flushed. “What do you mean by that?” he stammered, as the lyrics poured into his ear. His thoughts took shape, and he knew exactly who he’d sing the song to.
“Who do you think of when you hear this song?” Victor pressed, raising an eyebrow with a teasing grin. “‘Your eyes are blue, your kisses too…’"
Yuuri stepped away, earbud falling out of his ear. Cheeks ignited, he looked away. “You know who it’s about,” he muttered, heat spreading throughout his face.
“I want to hear you say it!” Victor whined, eyes still twinkling. Yuuri could drown in the sound of Victor’s voice, in his beautifully mischievous eyes.
Yuuri couldn’t bring himself to answer Victor, embarrassed, but his heart rang with the answer. You. This song, every time I listen to it, I think of you.
You are telling everyone I know I'm on your mind, each place you go They can't believe that you're in love with me
They jogged to the rink, skates on their backs. Yuuri’s earbuds moved as they ran, playing through his morning playlist.
When they reached the rink, they hurried inside and warmed up, putting on their skates as quickly as possible.
“Oi! Old man, pig! You’re late!”
Yuuri chuckled nervously while Victor pouted. “We’re only five minutes late! Mila isn’t here yet either!”
Yuri glared at them from the ice. “Get out here quickly!” he hissed. They complied, not wanting to incur Yakov’s wrath as well.
After running through drills and each of his pieces’ choreographies, Yuuri grabbed his water bottle. He caught his breath, then immediately skated back out, prepping himself to start from the beginning.
“Yuuri!” Victor called. “Come over here!”
With a questioning glance, Yuuri skated over to him. Victor grinned, extending his hand out. Yuuri took it, his heart soaring as the ends of his mouth pulled into a delighted smile. They skated hand in hand, laughing and tripping over their own feet.
“Stop being gross and skate properly!” Yuri called from the side.
“Aw, leave them alone Yura! They’re having fun!” Mila giggled. Georgi smiled knowingly at the two of them, his arms crossed.
“One day when you’re in love you’ll understand!” Victor responded loudly, grasping Yuuri’s hand just a little tighter. Yuuri felt tears pool at the corners of his eyes, joy tinging his fingertips where his hand connected with Victor’s.
He could barely believe Victor was real sometimes, and had no clue how he got so lucky.
I have always placed you far above me I just can't imagine that you love me After all is said and done to think that I'm the lucky one Cannot believe that you're in love with me
Yuuri’s muscles were lightly sore, exhilaration from skating still echoing in his bones. He rubbed his back with one hand as he leaned against the counter, waiting for the tea to finish brewing.
Victor was playing with Makkachin, lazily lounging on the couch and tossing a ball for the puppy to chase every once in a while. In Victor’s other hand was a book with worn edges.
Yuuri took his phone out of his pocket, checking his feed quickly. He smiled as he read the headlines of certain articles, then closed the app. He started playing his music then rested his phone on the counter beside him.
He saw Victor look up and smile in his direction before turning back to his book. Yuuri hummed as he poured the tea for himself and Victor, carrying the steaming mugs to the couch and handing one to the silver haired man. His music resonated against the walls, spilling around them.
It all felt terribly domestic, and Yuuri loved every second of it.
He sorted through his things later that evening, looking for some of the books he had brought. His fingers stumbled over some posters, crinkled at the edges. He giggled lightly, slightly embarrassed to see the posters of Victor he had brought. They were inspiration for him, after all. It would’ve been weird to leave them behind.
Victor had always been his goal, to reach and maybe surpass. Yuuri had fallen in love with Victor and skating from the beginning, and he got lucky enough to live his dream.
He glanced down to the ring adorning his finger, glinting as he moved it. He could almost feel tears fill his eyes again, absolutely overwhelmed with gratefulness for all he had, with amazement and wonder.
He had no idea how he had managed to get here.
He looked back at the posters before tucking them back in, then turned to see Victor leaning against the doorframe, smiling gently. Yuuri smiled back, love tickling his skin.
“Yuuri,” Victor said, gently.
“Victor,” Yuuri replied, softly and sweetly.
He was so utterly in love, so lost in the feeling of being with Victor. And he thanked every star in the sky that Victor loved him too.
I have always placed you way up there above me Could never imagine that you love me And after all is said and done to think that I'm the only one I can't believe that you're in love, can't believe that you're in love Can't believe that you're in love with me
I hope you enjoyed <3

1 and 9 for the book ask
It's my tea friend! Hiiiiiiiiiiii! I was thinking of you the other day. 💛👋👋
1. What’s something you read recently and enjoyed?
I read Small Spaces by Katherine Arden on the recommendation of @kanerallels and that was a very good time, especially as a spooky season read. I also finnaaalllyyyy finished Russ Ramsey's Rembrandt is in the Wind and gosh am I glad for it, what a beautiful reflection on art.
9. What series has most disappointed you?
Hmmmm that is a good question, I feel like if I don't like a series I usually know by the first or second book and therefore don't finish and then forget their existence. Maybe Jasper Fforde's The Chronicles of Kazam bc they are Brilliant but he never wrote a book four. ☹ .....except I just checked and APPARENTLY book four was published in 2021 so I guess I can't count this anymore and I gotta find me a copy to read. 😂 um ok. The Atherton trilogy by Patrick Carman can come stand in its place bc I remember hating the third book which may or may not be related to my and the author's contrasting worldviews or maybe is more bc I was reading it as a fantasy rather than as a myth.
Heartrate is Alix and Kim holey wht?
Yeah hahaha I think it’s because of the competitions and the whole “your heart rate increases when exercising/competing” which is pretty cute
18. Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience?
Oh fun question! 🎶🎵
I play (played heh) acoustic guitar and have done a little with various guitar relatives, used to be able to pick out songs on a piano, and used to play recorder. I have barely touched a musical instrument in the past like decade though. And while I love singing, I would not classify myself as a singer and my choir days were short. XD
I used to perform in concerts with the music academy I was a part of for years as a student and then as a teacher directing, but tbh I always hated the performances and I hated directing more. XD they're too stressful and then over too fast.
Sadly, I do not play my guitar very often now. I got new strings for it uh last year and haven't really done anything since. 🙈
What writing program do you use??
Hello friend! 😊👋💛
Short answer! LibreOffice for my actual writing program, Ellipsus for online/collaborative work, and Obsidian for plotting and notes.
Ok long answer:
For documents on my computer (I do not prefer cloud storage at all) I use LibreOffice (formerly and sometimes known as OpenOffice). It works like Word should work without nearly as much of the garbage and without having to sell one's soul to Microsoft. 😊 So all my main text (stories, poetry, etc) are moving to Libre as my official writing program.
But for my Western since I am writing on the go a lot, I am also using the website Ellipsus. They have shown a commitment to writers and creators and made specific and vocal efforts to respect data privacy and to eschew all things AI. This will also be great when I want to have collaborative edits done, as they have all the tools I could want for sharing, enabling comments, separating drafts, and a bunch of other features I haven't looked at yet. This is not a program or app and does require an Internet connection but that's not a problem for me. It's also very pretty and customizable. 🌼
And last but not least! I love using Obsidian for all my plot and character and worldbuilding and reference notes. It's essentially a fancy text editor where the files are just markdown files you own completely and can be opened by any applicable software, so my files are not in danger of getting locked up in proprietary software there either. I absolutely loooove the way I can open so many notes in little tabs and compare them side by side without having to mess with my screen or open a bunch of separate windows and files, and I love how I can organize everything within the system and it's all just stored on my hard drive, not within the program.
But the best thing about Obsidian to me is the Canvas feature which works like Milanote except it's free and I can add whatever I want on there without paywall and space restrictions. I am using this for my plot outline where I can edit every plot point and group them and color code and connect them with little lines and arrows and drag them all around, I can add internet links visually, and I can even directly link to the individual chapters if I put those text files in there.
Both Ellipsus and Obsidian have paid version features - Ellipsus has just started rolling theirs out but at least this far have promised it is only to help support the platform and is only for special features so you aren't going to get locked out of the service without a subscription. They have a super helpful Discord you can join and announce all new features and bug updates and etc there. Obsidian you can pay to sync your files across devices and work online. I have no need for the paid versions of either and am incredibly happy with the free options.
Thanks for asking! I am super happy with the writing setup I have now - all my old Microsoft docs are getting saved as Libre text files instead (and since Libre is an open source software, I have little to fear about ever getting caught in proprietary junk) and I have no need for Google docs. What each person needs from their writing software is unique but I love these three and highly recommend them - especially if you are looking for a "less evil" option than the big hitters but also just in general I love them as tools themselves. 👏💛
