I found an old lilac bush just coming into bloom. I snipped a couple dozen flowering bracts into a sack where I left them to wilt. In the evening, I plucked the blossoms into a bowl; what could have been seen as tedious, was punctuated by the heavenly scent. It seemed like a goodly lot, two tray fulls in the dehydrator. Come the following day, I sprinkled them into a jar, all their crunchy little purple goodness tucked into the tea pantry.
