Ok I'm @ing you for one thing. Why do you dislike novelty yarn? Coming from someone who doesn't understand. XD
Sdkjhfdlfkfs that post was from ages ago, what even XD
Okay so obvs YMMV, this is based on my own tastes and preferences, and take everything I say with a grain of salt.
Personally I think novelty yarns are extremely frustrating to work with and don’t yield results that match up with the time and effort put into working with them. I’m not a huge fan of synthetics to begin with, but I recognize that synthetic yarn has its place and its uses and I’m not about to bash anybody for using them. But so much novelty yarn is just. Poorly made, snags on everything or is so fluffy/fuzzy you can’t even knit with it properly and you end up grabbing the fluff instead of the main part of the yarn, sheds plastic fuzzy bits everywhere. No thank you.
The biggest exception I can think of would be like. Well-made fake fur yarn used to make stuffies. Or mohair/silk like Kidsilk Haze, but I’m not sure that counts as novelty yarn as much as specialty yarn.
All that said, YMMV, use whatever makes you happy and gives you the end result you want! Hopefully this clarifies a bit =D
