yes!!!! i am!!!! it is.... a pairing lol, it’s romantic arvin/lenora bc i’m trash and love pseudo incest. one fic is a fix it where she lives and they go on the run together and the other one is an extremely trashy self-indulgent au that i might not ever post in public LOL

but yes snippet under the cut!! this is from the fix-it which is about half-way done lol i really do wanna finish it but school keeps cock-blocking me. it’s nothing too explicit just pining and a lot of religious guilt

Then, the barn door slams open and Arvin’s running in, pale-faced, wild-eyed. The look on his face when he locks eyes with Lenora makes her heart stop.

She wants to explain, will do anything to wipe that horrified, broken expression clean off him. In her desperation to get the noose off, she stumbles instead.

It hurts. Choking like this, it hurts. Lenora can faintly hear Arvin screaming her name but her vision is blurring, legs kicking out desperately. She’s going to die. She’s going to die and Arvin is going to watch her go.

Lord forgive me for my transgressions. Lord take me into your arms. Forgive me, forgive me.

But it’s Arvin’s strong arms she ends up in, his hands clutching at her shoulders, “No, no, no, just breathe Lenora, c’mon please,” blabbering like a broken record, rocking her back and forth. She’s gasping, gulping in bursts of air greedily to soothe her burning lungs. Blood rushing in her ears.

When she croaks his name out, Arvin’s whole body goes still. She can’t see his face clearly, tears still blinking down her face, but she still reaches out, brushing her fingers against his jaw.

“Lenora,” he mutters, grabbing her hand, squeezing hard. It hurts, but Lenora relishes in it. It means she’s alive. Alive and still with him. A sob breaks out of her throat and he shushes her. 

He says her name again and again, whispering it like a prayer, in a small ragged voice Lenora’s never heard from him before. An open wound. His hands are everywhere, petting her hair, touching her cheek, and underneath all the pain, that warm feeling she associates with Arvin rises up, spilling out through her tears and gasps.

“You saved me,” she breathes out when she finally manages to speak. He saved her. Like he always does. Lenora at the end of her rope, looking for salvation, and Arvin coming to her rescue. If the Lord does love her, as He loves all his children, Arvin must love her more. 

How else would he know when she needs him?

when you have that choice in inquisition to send a bunch of mages to fight demons so they can seal the rift...with magic...and mages are prone to getting possessed by said demons.... and there’s literally a boss fight in origins where mages get possessed by demons....not to mention the whole purpose of templars is supposed to nullify magic and prevent this shit from happening......hm......

🙌 three positive traits that define you?Okay, this is really difficult! I always feel like I’m big noting myself when I pull out the positive qualities or the qualities that I think are really nice.1. Sociable: I get along really well with people and I’m great at making friends. I’m usually always cracking jokes and I generally can find something in common with most of the people I meet. I also genuinely enjoy talking to people and getting to know them and their interests. ^_^2. Strong: I am a very strong person. I stand up to people and say what’s on my mind when other people would probably keep quiet (I’m not sure if this is a good thing though, lol). But I’ve also gone through a lot and I’ve helped other people through some very tough times, and I’ve done it without breaking, while keeping my cool, and while managing to smile and still do everything I needed to do in my day to day life.

3. Creative: I’m a reasonably creative person - I love writing and painting especially. I was brought up in a house that valued creativity - my mother was always into arts and crafts and I have memories of her doing pottery and stained glass when I was younger. I know she also did enameling, we did pottery painting, and have also done candle making together. She also does a lot of painting - and she has always encouraged me to write and never pried into my writing or art, but has always welcomed me to share it with her. 

💄 one simple pleasure that makes you very happy?Haha - going to the movies! I love sitting in the dark with salty, buttery popcorn and escaping into a movie. I just love the whole experience. It’s the easiest way to escape normality.

1. What drew your character to their LI and vice versa?

Layla was drawn to Thane because she wanted to understand him; he was so different from what she’d expected, and from anyone else she knew. Even when she couldn’t agree with him, he conveyed an equanimity that she had been dearly missing at that point in her life.

Thane was drawn to Layla because she pulled his focus to the present, instead of the past or future, and because she asked him questions that made him think. I think that together they learned things that neither would have learned on their own, and that’s what made them stick together.

2. What was the first moment that they knew they were in love with their LI?

I don’t think it was a specific moment. They gradually took up more and more room in each other’s thoughts and dreams, but for a long time neither of them believed that it could come to anything more. At some point they each became aware that they were more concerned for each other than they were for themselves, and from that point onwards it was only a matter of time. (Thane was the first to voice his feelings. Layla had zero idea how to react, so she avoided him for days afterwards...) 

25. Share any headcanons about their relationship.

Ooh where to start!

They get married in a hurry, between ME2 and ME3, in a city hall wedding on Omega.

But they have a nicer ceremony after the war, where they actually invite people, probably at White Sands National Monument or somewhere similar.

Also after the war, they get a dog, probably a Cairn Terrier or an Australian Cattle Dog.

Layla is the better cook.

Thane is the tidier one, who usually makes the bed.

2. Share a screenshot of your main Shepard:

I WISH! I can’t unfortunately I had to uninstall a whole bunch of games recently bc they were slowing down my computer too much which includes the mass effect trilogy....I was going to replay soon and reinstall them but for now I guess I’ll just describe my shep? I always play as femshep so female, dark cropped hair (that she eventually grows out by me3) w brown skin and green eyes (I have two mains that I can never decide who’s my MAIN main bc I love them both but. my other main femshep is the classic redhead femshep with some scarring and LOTS of muscles.)

8.  Share a headcanon about your main Shepard:

Okay I have two main femsheps (I REALLY CAN’T DECIDE) but no matter what my general feeling towards femshep (especially post-war) that they both share is like. Post-war they both disappear for a bit (once the normandy is home & she’s reunited) to travel & to contemplate survival & just have some peace & quiet (regardless of LI’s and other hc’s).

I have this really kinda specific image in my head of the first shep I mentioned (that one is Jane, the redhead is Valerie - it’s confusing ik) getting stuck on this desert planet (from a crash landing after being reckless or trying to escape someone & getting injured) in this like tiny colony full of (predominantly) Asari and other races.

And there’s this Asari kid that is part of the family that’s helping her heal (they take Jane in bc she gets injured upon impact and she’s still sore & recovering from her injuries during the war as well). And her translator is broken, her ship is down & so are her communications so she can’t really communicate w anyone but this family still takes her in anyway and she starts to learn the Asari language. And she bonds with them all & other members of this tiny town in a literal desert planet that she doesn’t even know what system it’s in, and she bonds esp. with this Asari kid and it’s just like. Forcing her to stop and live everyday life and be surrounded by something ordinary where no one knows her. And after a while and after putting off fixing her communications & ship (bc she could’ve left within days after she healed up if she had wanted to) and trying to decide whether to leave or not, she does. And it’s like a carthasis for her in a way, this forced vacation (bc even when she was travelling she was finding fights and throwing herself into them and being totally stupid).

And I have an idea about how she takes the Asari kid under her wing as the Asari learns human and whatnot and a whole bunch of other stuff (she takes her hunting, there’s a whole bunch of mini adventures and she almost gets the Asari kid killed at one point which forces her to reconsider a lot of Things but yeah.) And the whole point of this journey/detour would be like, not quite dealing w her PTSD but recognising it and who she is and what she wants now that the war is Done.

(And there’s some symbolism about her not having any of her usual armour or anything bc it got destroyed so she is just. Herself. Not the great commander shepard and she can’t communicate who she is and she doesn’t really want to, and there’s so many other factors like her awe at this tiny little planet surviving the war and how these people kept on living and everything. It’s a lot)

14. Is there a squad member you disliked in the beginning, but started to appreciate later? If yes, who and why?:

I had to think about this one for a while

I think the person that comes closest (DON’T CRUCIFY ME) would be Kaidan. I never liked him as a character (and ESP. as a romance) and I disliked him bc he was so boring? And flat? And I still get that vibe from him even now when I replay ME1 and he’ll never be a favourite but I think in ME3 they gave him a lot more character (i.e. they gave him a sense of humour) which made me warm up to him a lot more. I’ll never understand his appeal but yeah.

can you tell us about your shepard? what was your first playthrough like?

so hahahaaaa

my first playthrough of ME1 was in my sophomore year of college. This was about two years after the game had been released, and I was mostly playing it to avoid admitting that I was having some severe mental health problems. That said, I went from cynical, eye-rolling disinterest (because my friend John had told me over and over again that I’d like this game - a man who has since been the man of honor at my wedding, if that tells you anything) to immediate heart-and-soul investment in the span of about twenty seconds. I mean. GOD. DAMN. 

When that music comes on and the female protagonist struts onto the bridge like it’s no big deal…? In those twenty seconds, I became a different person. The whole experience of playing the first Mass Effect game was so thoroughly colored by that feeling of long-dormant satisfaction, that feeling of “holy shit, she’s a woman and everyone takes her absolutely seriously.” That feeling of “holy shit, she’s a woman and the heroic journey she takes is in no way different than one taken by a male protagonist.” That feeling put Shepard on a pantheon of characters that I’m not sure many others will ever be able to reach, at least on a level of personal significance and nostalgia. I’d always felt excluded by my own favorite genre, and I’d never even realized it, until I saw Shepard walk onto that bridge and thought, “holy shit, is this how guys feel during every movie ever made?”  A lot of people talked about the new Wonder Woman film that way - that scene when she walks across No Man’s Land - and feeling like they finally got it. Like, OH. This is what it feels like to be reflected in media, to feel powerful. That was Shepard, for me. She was my Wonder Woman.

Anyway. My first Shep was a spacer war hero modeled after Gillian Anderson. She was pure Paragon, like I think she probably crapped diamonds, and she romanced Kaidan and got her heart smashed by him in ME2, but stayed loyal. By the time ME3 rolled around I’d already replayed the games as mShep (romancing Tali) and again as several femSheps, and had become a diehard Garrus fangirl, so I’ve only ever done the ME3 game w/ Shakarian. I didn’t even realize you could romance Garrus for a while, and the first time I did I was like, “but… HIM?? but… his whole… razor-sharp face??” and then I pretty much instantaneously got won over… again. Cuz apparently this franchise just DOES that to me.

so anyway. that was really rambly, sorry. I am maybe a little more than medium drunk now.

@vorchagirl​ no i havent done his romance before. i usually leave shep romanceless in me1 (and i kill him off in virmire since im super fond of ash)

Maybe you were planning to give his romance a shot and keep him alive for a change? Idk, lol. I once loaded up a game and found that my Shep was in a romance with Liara and I have no idea how it had happened, as it was my Garrus romanced Shep.
