bioware is so awful at making self-contained games that make sense on their own. like if i hadn’t played the previous dragon age games (namely da2 holy shit) i would’ve had no fucking idea what the hell was happening in inquisition because everything in the plot was just a callback to previous events

like with mass effect it’s more forgivable since the whole series is about the same protagonist game to game but if you play as a different person in each installment then there should be no confusion. you shouldn’t have to have played a dlc from a previous game to understand a critical plot point in the next game
