1920s Japanese Papier Mache Lacquer Tea Cake Plates, Small Dessert Dish, Vintage Lacquerware Coasters in Storage Box for just $21.00 This set of eight little lacquered plates or coasters were traditionally used in tea ceremonies to serve small portions of desserts or tea cakes. This set has a traditional Japanese look. They are a lovely sienna color with a hand-painted gold bird with a flowering vine. These could be used for individual servings of nuts or for measuring out dry ingredients for a recipe. Use as a coaster for warm or room temperature drinks. I don’t think I would recommend using it for a cold drink with ice since I am not sure how the evaporated water may affect them. CONDITION Rustic vintage condition.
