The thing about nuanced posts about age differences in fandom ships, is that children/teens often don't understand the nuance. As a 15 year old who saw people shipping people my age with people 20+ years old the message I took from that was "Of course I can date a 37 year old, age is just a number!". And if your nuance includes laws about age of consent the farthest my mindset would have changed would b to "okay I can date this 37 year old in six months", which also would've been fucking wrong.

idk why I didn’t see this in my inbox earlier but, like........okay? Teenagers don’t understand nuance.......because nobody’s taught it to them? It’s their job to learn things? If we don’t teach them nuance we’re going to end up seriously fucking over this generation of kids???
