so, i'm the unofficial "inclusion" teacher in fifth grade (no complaints here; i'm good with kids who struggle in more "traditional" classrooms)

but, by and large, i have very few teachers'/ptso students in my classes

turns out, the two things are related (a lot of teachers don't want their kids in the "inclusion" classroom)

until recently, i thought the other teachers just hated me

#sorrows speaks #teaching tag #frankly though? if they're going to be like That about the inclusion classroom then i'm fine with them hating me #more than test scores or even formal evals my biggest point of pride is getting neurodivergent kids who hated school previously #to be enthusiastic about learning again. and it's not that hard usually!#inclusion classrooms are the ones with educational/behavioral IEPs/504s. and yes there shouldn't be just one inclusion class #but there unfortunately is. and it's my class!

#i got so mad looking at this during the assessment. like obviously all the kids were baffled by the idea you need to do more than one thing #because you DON'T!!!!#teaching tag

not to brag, but i'm the reason some fifth graders google "lesbian" at least a year before they normally would have

if y'all wanna get mad about something with me, the school district hired a "chief of school police" and his starting salary is $200,000

even if i worked for 30 years and did all the requirements to get raises and the district actually gave us annual raises for staying in the district like they're fuckign supposed to, his starting pay would still be almost $70,000 more than i would ever make

#sorrows speaks #teaching tag #you best believe they've received indignant letters about this already #roped sister (who does not teach) and mother (who does) into writing some too #fun fact! if we don't do the stupid every five year raise thing where we have to pay to take classes to get the raise #and the union doesn't negotiate for a step advancement (bc our salaries have steps and columns. steps go by years--allegedly--#and columns go by the credits we accrue from classes)#if we meet neither requirement of the union doing their job & us taking enough classes (every 5 years) then we just don't get a raise #so in a super bad situation (and this has happened before) if you don't take classes you could go 10 years or more without a raise

school i work at is doing half days tomorrow weds thurs because of the heatwave. the question is do i come home at lunch in the baking heat and enjoy marking/data entry on my sofa or do i do the marking/data entry in the air conditioned staff room and come home later in the baking afternoon

working from home today because i am now *~*~history lead~*~*. unfortunately i am a little swamped with all the Things That Haven't Been Done in the two years the school hasn't had a history lead
