Finishing my “Elder-zine” project! It has been so cool leading a weekly art and storytelling workshop with these amazing older adults! ♥️ Together we created the material that I have collected in “The Flowering of Old Age” (complete with fart jokes!) Soon I will be compiling all my workshop leader materials into a separate zine as a template for future workshops.

I was invited to be the visiting artist for a week of the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences Summer Art Camp. I worked with the campers all week long in developing drawing and comic skills, culminating in a comic book that we collaborated on together.  Here are the pages from the comic that they each took home. Thank you to the LBIF, all of the summer camp staff, and the campers for a great week!

This one came out a little strange. I think I was just glad to be done with it.

Lessons go quite well sometimes. Even here in distance learning land. But I sort of channeled my early teaching days for this as I was mentoring a student teacher this year. When do we get our backbone? Our pacing? Our finesse? Do we ever?
