Journal Entry July 2018- Back2Basics- Back in 2011 I bought my first dslr camera after I received some money from the passing of my father so I knew I wanted to do something good with this... So I got my first dslr and began formally teaching myself to become a professional photographer... First I needed to know how to see as a photographer, which is obviously partly through the frame of the camera. Try to see how the camera renders colours and tones, textures and so on... For me the obvious place to start was where I started in art when I was at school... I remember every new art course in the early days always started with a bowl of fruit... At least that's what I remember most vividly from my early art training , therefore... It stuck! And if it stuck then it worked because I still remember the knowledge from those lessons where a bowl of fruit was involved... So that's the very first thing I was going to explore... The stand where I bought them, a family hanging out at the back of Debenhams on Bond Street standing in front of a green skip, the son was showing something on his phone... That's why they didn't notice me... Standing quite far away by today's standards. Remember then I was still scared of what people would say about me taking their pictures without asking or telling them first... Anyway, when I got home I made this picture. Filling the frame with pears and oranges... This was the point where I began my formal self- teaching of the fundamentals of design, photography and art so as to become the best creative I could by sticking to my guns from this point forward... Seven years on... I'm still a student, learning every day.... class is still in session. In fact now I'm trying to formalise a way to share everything I've learned over that time with anyone who might benefit from it... #creatocracy #storytelling #fruit #back2basics #theotherbondstreet #onedailyfoto #onlytheLIT #teachingcreativety #liveCr8.tv #art www.figmentmedia.org Sx (at Bond Street Chelmsford)
