Well, let me say that it wasn’t bad and I enjoyed it somewhat.
Ezekiel...the King of the Kingdom...I love, love, love him. And his Shiva...absolutely love how they changed her look from the season 7 preview...not so cartoon-ish.
For me and my girl’s..all team d...we couldn’t help but putting Beth there...she would ‘fit’ there and the life of this place.
The outlandish or ‘bigger-than-life’ man, he is a King..to have people follow him and not question him...other-worldly, I would call it. But then again, it fits in a world that the dead walk around eating people.
Morgan seems like he fits this world too....with his akito skills and his ability to weld a walking stick, puts you in mind of sword play and/or jousting maybe.
Carol...she aggravates me tbh, and has for awhile. But, she’s alive, still, and looks like going to be, and is, catching the eye of the King. He knew she was full of it though, ‘never bullshit a bullshitter’...
So, there were so many things that reminded you of past seasons....pigs that were shown eating walkers, and then shown skinned and ready to put cooked over a spit...and given to the Saviors that came for their weekly ‘donations’....tainted meat...s5, Terminites and Bob’s foot...how about the whole of the Kingdom being a visit through that lloking glass of Grady...and Carol being told they want to help, but not have to....ugh, it hurts....it really does. These are just a couple. This episode is a huge ‘easter-egg’ on it’s own....so, so many things for td to pick apart.
Carol decided to leave the Kingdom though....not going far, but into the ‘creepy-yellow’ house we seen during filming spoilers....she killed a walker that was inside...and then ‘buried (I’m not shitting you!)’ it in small cemetery very near the house.
We ‘hear’ a roar, Shiva’s of course...and Carol goes to the door with a slight perplexed smile, opening it to reveal Ezekiel and Shiva. He’s holding up a pomegranate, and says that she really needs to try it.
The pomegranate...prevalent through this episode...Carol refusing any of one earlier in the episode, and then at the end. Persephone, was given one by Hades and she ate the seeds (I think it was six...?) This made her have to stay with Hades six months out of the year....she came and went. Carol is going to stay at the house, but go back to the Kingdom..does this make Ezekiel Hades??...well Shiva, a Hindu god of the underworld that conquered death...as had been pointed out after seeing the preview for season 7 by many.
‘The dead are alive lest not the Alive be Dead’....verse on the wall that was behind Morgan while he was eating...someone better at this will, I’m sure and hopeful, talk about this. But, I can’t help but think this has a meaning for td. Just so much symbolism through this episode and the ‘renaissance’ feel of the whole of the Kingdom, and the people.....King Ezekiel and his goddess, Shiva.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of them truly.
