A follow-up to this piece. Introducing the replacement for the Partner, Team Zenith! They’re a team of young adults and older teens who live and work at Wigglytuff’s Guild on the cusp of their evolution. They do have names, but revealing names in PMD culture is seen as a form of close friendship. You instead address them by their species name, which is akin to a surname.
All but one of them are from the same village near the Frontier and had always wished to be explorers (except maybe Phanpy). Riolu and Vulpix are the same age while Skitty, Phanpy, and Shinx are a little bit younger than them.
Firstly is Team Zenith’s founder and captain, Riolu. He’s a serious and dry sort and doesn’t talk much. He generally hates silly shenanigans as he sees them as childish. It’s all business with him.
Team Zenith’s vicecaptain, Vulpix, is not all business. She’ll often initiate stupid arguments between her and Riolu about the name of Team Zenith (something she’s still salty about) and will flirt with anything that moves. She also wants your doughnuts.
Skitty is the one member of the team who didn’t grow up with the rest of them. That doesn’t change her attitude though; she still treasures them as her best friends. She’s not the brightest crayon in the box, even by pokemon standards, but she’s always willing to listen and will try to cheer others up as best she can.
Poor little Phanpy is scared of the big outdoors and everyone’s there to help him through it. He doesn’t really like being in an exploration team, but he’s trying his best. One thing that is useful out on the field is his knowledge of plants and herbs. It’s saved each member at least once from eating something they shouldn’t.
Lastly, Shinx, the team baby. He’s the youngest member, but not the newest (that’s Phanpy). He’s less “shoot first, ask questions later” and more “skip the question”. He tends to get a bit of discrimination for being a much more obvious hybrid, but he doesn’t really care. When he was a kitten, he found a Relic and wishes to learn the secrets of its origin. He brings it along whenever he sets out into the Frontier and makes it his first attempt to solve any problem when in ruins, even if the architecture doesn’t match.
If/when I make the sideblog, these guys will appear pretty frequently. Brid will get to know all five of them a little more.
