October 14th was our 2nd wedding anniversary, and I'm already looking forward to next year's. Why? We upped the ante.
It seems this year we both dropped the ball with the romantic, mutual gift exchange. Birthdays? Holidays? No problem. Wedding anniversary? For some reason all we could come up with was dinner, which is fine but pretty mild for us. Through a hilarious discussion, we came up with something pretty brilliant: a legit competition. Specifically...
💥💥The Anniversary Challenge💥💥
After flipping a coin to decide who would go first, we came up with the rules:
1. Responsibility for the anniversary gift will rotate each year (Terry won the coin toss for next year).
2. The gift cannot be a thing, it has to be an experience that we can both participate in.
3. There is a budget that must be kept.
4. The budget increases incrementally by a set amount each year, though it doesn't have to be fully used.
5. It must take place within a week of our anniversary, unless our anniversary falls on a week we have Kai.
6. Amendments to these rules must be agreed upon.
7. Smack talking is encouraged.
We're already using Rule #7 liberally and I'm loving it. You're going down, Junior!
