DLSU students pioneer Web Series Thesis in Communication Arts

Clockwork Children is a web series created by De La Salle University (Manila) students as the final requirement for their thesis. Every graduating Communication Arts Major of the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) must produce a thesis project (whether it be a film, book, graphic novel, TV pilot, etc.) in order to pass the course.

Instead of going with the popular route that most DLSU Comm Arts majors choose, which is a short film, students Aldrin L. Dayauon, Jose R. Feraren, and Eileen M. Robles decided to dive into the ever-changing world of new media entertainment. They were in awe of all the possibilities the internet has provided, so the attraction to the platform seemed only natural to them.

Under the mentorship of Director Jose Javier Reyes, this web series will be the first of its kind if included in the CLA thesis archives. As of late, it has been the only approved thesis proposal regarding this platform (web series) in DLSU Communication Arts history.

Clockwork Children was born out of wonder, "what ifs", and the curious child that lives in all of us.

The story is about two brothers with the power to travel in time. Bobby is a studious and diligent high school senior who has a little brother named Karl. Karl is a young and naive fellow who wants his brother to accept him for who he is and stop trying to make him his split image. Karl discovers that he has the power to travel in time and he uses this to bond with his brother. Along the way he succeeds with what he wants and eventually notices that in the present time his brother Bobby completely changes. 

Will Karl be able to turn things around or will he face the sad truth that there are things in this world that even magic cannot solve?
