Guardiola Concerned as City’s Defence Hit by Injury Crisis Ahead of Brighton Clash
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted his concern over a growing injury crisis in his squad, particularly in defence, ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League clash against Brighton.
Guardiola revealed that centre-back แทงบอลเต็ง Ruben Dias and left-back Josko Gvardiol are both facing potential spells on the sidelines after being forced off during City’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday. The Spanish coach described the situation as “not looking good” and suggested that both players could be out for several weeks.
City’s defensive problems are further compounded by the continued absence of John Stones, while Nathan Aké has also struggled to stay fit and has been unable to play consistently. Midfield anchor Rodri, who recently returned to the starting line-up after a three-month absence, is still working his way back to full match sharpness.
In addition, Guardiola confirmed that Oscar Bobb, Mateo Kovačić, Nico González and Savinho have all been sidelined by injuries in recent weeks, leaving the squad stretched once again.
The City boss admitted that the club is facing another injury crisis similar to last season but insisted that the team must find solutions despite the difficult circumstances.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo for a fee of around £65 million. However, Guardiola played down expectations of further reinforcements in the current transfer window, while keeping the door open depending on how the situation develops.
Manchester City are set to host Brighton on Wednesday night in a crucial fixture as they look to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal and avoid dropping further points in the title race.
