The struggle of being an "uwian"

Commuting from Laguna to Ortigas and vice versa is really a daunting task; kailangan mo talagang habaan ang pasensya mo at diskartehan ang pagcommute mo lalo na kung traffic. Bus? Jeep? UV? Trike? Habal habal? MRT? LRT? Beh I have tried and mastered them all. 💯

Sa daming hours na ginugol ko sa pagccommute, buses eventually became my second home. Travelling through buses will make you experience this strange feeling of solitude; you will have a substantial amount of time to do reflections, lalo na kung nakaupo ka. Lalo na pag window seat ka, mapapa-muni muni ka na lang talaga sa sarili mo while you’ll see strange road happenings. When commuting to work from a faraway place, you have to forego a lot of things. Come to think about it, I could have totally been a different person if nag-dorm ako. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pagod na ako, pero wala pa din ako sa bahay,

“Bayad ho, Ortigas.”

Evaluating those 2 years of commute from Laguna to Ortigas and vice versa, kung tutuusin nasanay na ako eh, naging sistema na ng katawan ko ang magprepare at pumasok 4-5 hours before ng duty. Kahit mag out ka ng saktong 6:30pm (end of shift) wala pa ding silbi dahil wala ka ng masasakyan na bus non pa Balibago at punuan, or if mag UV naman, you would have to wait for at least 2-4hrs sa sobrang haba ng pila because of limited UV's. So ako na gusto ko ng makauwi dahil pagod na din talaga, I would take different route, mapa-byaheng Alabang man yan o Pacita, or MRT tas baba ng Ayala para lang malampasan ang traffic sa kahabaan ng EDSA, then from there abang ng bus, tapos magbabayan bayan na lang. At the end of the day, 1am or 2am pa din ako makakauwi then alis na ulit by 4am. Kahit na 30minutes pa

lang yung tulog ko lagi, go pa din. Pag inabutan ka ng 5:30am sa terminal tapos nakapila ka pa din? Trust me kahit 8am pa yung time mo at kahit inagahan mo na ng alis sa inyo, malelate at malelate ka pa din.

But despite of all that hassle and inconvenience na naranasan ko for being an uwian for 2 years, wala akong pinagsisisihan. Kahit na muntik muntikan na kong manakawan lagi pero thank God dahil takot ata sakin yung mga magnanakaw 🤣 and kahit na masiraan pa ng ilang beses sa gitna ng SLEX, and kahit na ilang beses na muntik mabangga yung sinasakyan ko sa kahabaan ng SLEX dahil pagod at antok na din si manong driver, at syempre isama na din natin ang mga pasimple na manyak na makakatabi mo sa bus and UV's 🙄😡, still, no regrets, at all. Being an uwian made me tougher as I ply the hellish thoroughfares of urban Manila. Maybe I CAN SAY THAT FINALLY I AM IMMORTAL! 💀🤣💪; I have achieved travel nirvana and have transcended beyond the urban turmoil of Manila.

I guess 2 years of commute can make one strong enough to endure any traffic congestion Greater Manila has to offer, and other uwian people can concur with what I have said.

So, I would like to thank Jam and Jac Liner for being my third home HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
