"...What memory is this?" "No idea...Alright, come on. Dean? Road...God...Remember?" "Wait a minute, wait a minute...this? This is the night you ditched us for Stanford isn't it? This is your idea of heaven? Wow. This is like one of the worst nights of my life..." "I can't control this stuff." "Seriously?! I mean this is a happy memory for you?" "I don't know...I was on my own...I finally got away from Dad." "Yeah, he wasn't the only one you got away from." "Dean, I'm sorry...I-I just-" "No I know. You didn't think of it like that." "Dean-" "Come on! Your heaven, is someone else's thanksgiving. Okay? It's bailing on your family, I mean what do you want me to say?" "Look man...I never got the crusts cut off my pb&j. I...I just don't look at family the way you do." "Yeah but I'm your family. We're suppose to be a team. Suppose to be you and me against the world right?" "Dean...it is." "...Is it?" Season 5 Episode 16: Dark Side of the Moon
"I remember this. Mom and Dad were fighting, and then he moved out for a couple of days." "Dad always said they had the perfect marriage." "It wasn't perfect till after she died." *Mary hangs up the phone after her and John argue for a minute.* "What happens next?" *Dean gets up from his chair and goes over to Mary and envelops her into a hug* "It's okay Mom...Dad still loves you. I love you too. I'll never leave you." *Mary leaves the hug and cups Dean's face in her hands* "You, are my little angel...how about some pie?"
Season 5 Episode 16: Dark Side of the Moon
My theory on why Dean loves pie so much: This right here. He remembers this day, he remembers the look on his mothers face and how happy she was to see him. When he has a slice of pie, he remembers everything about her. It makes him feel warm, safe, and at home. I wonder if every time he's about to eat a piece of pie he hears his mom's voice inside his head saying, "You are my little angel...how about some pie?" He promised he'd never leave her...maybe this small thing is a way of keeping her with him all the time...just by having a slice of pie.
Season 5 Episode 16: Dark Side of the Moon
Jane, I never meant to hurt you thus. If the man who had but one little ewe lamb that was dear to him as a daughter, that ate of his bread and drank of his cup, and lay on his bosom, had by some mistake slaughtered it at the shambles, he would not have rued his bloody blunder more than I now rue mine. Will you ever forgive me?
