The day I saved my mom's checking account.
Yesterday, I came home around 5:20 from school when my mom was on the phone while on her laptop. She's not very tech savvy and I actually got her to use the internet just a few months ago. Anyway, she called me into the living room and told me the person on the phone was offering her a year-long protection plan for her laptop and asked if it would be a good idea. she said she got a pop up that froze her laptop and gave her a number to call to resolve the issue. I got suspicious and took the phone and asked "who is this?" And the man replied with an obvious Indian accent.... Oh. Hell no. I quickly hung up on him and looked at my mom's laptop and saw that that MF was in control of it. That's when I turned it off as fast as I could. And thank God no damage was done to the laptop and THANK GOD she hadn't given him any of her credit card information. These tech support scammers are f**King scum bags. I wish I would've cussed his ass out when I had the chance. 😡 It's incredibly fortunate that I walked in when I did or else they probably would've drained my hard working mother of all her money. Do what you can to warn people about these scammers weather they be kids or anybody who doesn't have a lot of knowledge about the internet and tell them what to watch out for.
