Here's an idea i've had for a spell that's more suited for people with less magical ability in fantasy settings.

Just before throwing a missile (e.g. rocks, bottles, darts, tankards, jewlery boxes, etc) a person could charge it up with a small amount of magical energy channeled through their throwing hand to give it a little more power, or perhaps a slight homing effect.
