Why are reports crucial?

Props- I was a Props Master. There was a bookshelf part of the set. To make the bookshelf lighter to move I faked the books by using sheets of foam. Only the spines would be visible. At tech, the director and SM approached me. I discovered the journal an actor uses, needed to be retrieved in a scene from the bookshelf. The next morning I took apart the foam books to allow the journal to be preset. I fell behind on my to-do list because of it. Could of been prevented.

Costumes- I was on a small costume crew for a musical. Only 4 people had quickchanges. In the first attempt the actors failed to make their re-entrance on time. The actors had to exit the small backstage into a halfway to get to their costumes. We made a second attempt- this time we waited for them in the wings with their new costume in hand. Could of been prevented.
