Madd, I gotta ask. No offense to aro people but how can you ship Destiel with aro!Dean? Isn't the definition of aromantic that you aren't in a romantic relationship? No hate here, just legit confused.
nope, being aro just means you don’t experience romantic attraction. it doesn’t mean you can’t be in a relationship. it’s like how asexual people don’t experience sexual attraction, but we can still have (and enjoy) sex.
i personally think of dean as someone who only knows how to love in one way - with his whole heart. i imagine that the intensity with which he loves makes it difficult for him to parse out differences in relationships. he’s intense about sam, intense about cas, intense about his friends, his mom, etc. distinguishing one type of love/relationship as different than the others would probably make him feel like he’s not giving his all to everybody he loves, like he loves certain people less than others instead of just differently.
and i’m not saying this is THE definition of aromanticism, i’m just explaining how i see it in dean.
OOOOH OUCH. Methinks that’s some rough sex happening there.
I’m going wiiiiith LARPing in the middle of the woods. Play fighting, meeting each other’s match and relishing the burn in their lungs and the strain in their arms. Dean and Castiel (strangers, at this point) find themselves on opposite teams and the get weirdly competitive. In his excitement, Dean falls down a hill through some wild blackberry bushes and miserably twists his ankle, effectively putting him out of commission for the event. Castiel, the cause of his injury and exceedingly guilty, helps him back to camp and takes great care in helping him heal over the next few weeks. They learn quite a bit about each other in the process. Which leads to…. inevitably….. scratches and bruises of a different kind…….
Sorry to sound dumb. I've never done this before and I don't know what to expect. I'm an author.
There’s no such thing as a dumb question!
As of now, you have a little under a month until your rough draft & synopsis is due for art claims. The submission form is already open, so if you’re a fast writer who has already finished you can submit it right now--though we certainly don’t expect you to!
Things to keep in mind between now and the draft due date:
Start thinking about an art claim synopsis as soon as possible! Remember--this is the main thing that artists will see when they’re deciding which fic they want to claim. You can write another synopsis for posting and promotion later--at this stage, you need to try and catch an artist’s attention, not a reader’s.
Worry less about keeping potential spoilers under wraps, and more about making an artist say, “Wow, I want to draw that!”
If you need help with this, feel free to contact the pinefest email or this blog.
The draft submission form also has a field where you can list any important visual elements that you can’t easily work into your synopsis. Clothing styles, locations, or even films that match the tone will all help an artist visualize your story, and that can go a long way in enticing them to choose your fic.
Also: you should have received an email last week with a link to the author check-in form. If you haven’t noticed it, please take a look in your junk mail!
There’s a space in the check-in form where you can let us know your twitter handle if you’d like to join the private group chat for Pinefest authors. This is a good place to get a little motivation or to bounce ideas around if you’re stuck.
Hopefully this is the kind of information you were after! If not, a breakdown of the schedule, what is required of authors, and how art claims work is under the cut.
A reminder email will be sent out in the week before the draft deadline, and at 11:59pm EST on November 15th, the rough draft submission form will be closed.
At this stage, artists will be given some time to peruse the fic summaries and pick the fic they’d like to work on. Once your fic has been claimed, you and your artist will receive an email from the DCPF mods with the information you each listed in your sign up so you can begin communicating.
You should email your most recent draft to your artist at this stage so that they can start planning their art. Some artists will make a shortlist of scenes that stand out to them, and confer with their author to choose which to create art for. Others prefer to make that decision entirely on their own.
At this stage, you should also figure out if there are any dates that you/your artist will be unable to post, and inform us via email by November 22nd.On November 25th, the posting schedule will go live on the DCPF blog.
Posting begins on January 30th! On your posting day, use the final submission form to let us know where to find your fic and the corresponding art–you and your artist will be given a link to this form closer to posting time.
After that, we’ll create a masterpost on the blog leading back to your work, and that’s it!
If there’s anything you’re still unsure about, ask away :)
Your blog is so cute! I probs sound creepy but I love seeing people live their life and post to do lists and all the lovely johnlock is magical. This blog gives me warm fuzzy feelings!
Thank you! This is ask is very cute and gives me warm fuzzy feelings!
Hello! I just finished your fic Beyond the Ether and had a few questions about the ending. Did Dean keep his memories when he became mortal? Will Cas ever remember his past? What does their life look like after they fall in love? Just curious!
I had a similar set of questions after I first finished the story and answered them here. Thank you so much for reading!
