Trope rating: Complete Monster, The Starscream, also idk the name for it but characters who are friends in one context and unknowingly at-odds in another (besties in class on tuesday, unknowingly trying to murder each other on weekends).. oh, and maybe Good Person is overly loyal to Irremediable Ass/Villain.

That depends a lot on how you define it? I certainly like quite a few characters who have gone far enough past most people's moral event horizons that they might be considered this, but I also like them to have other traits besides being evil, and some kind of compelling inner life. If a character is only there to do the worst thing possible in every situation they start to feel more like a plot device than a character. I don't particularly enjoy that; maybe it's because I've just never really gotten the enjoyment other people get from righteously hating fictional characters, but... yeah. My number one writing rule (and... rule for life in general I guess) is People Do Things For Reasons. They may not be good reasons, and the consciously held reason may be very different from the real one, but there should be something there to be understood, and my general experience of this trope is that it's not intended to make you want to understand, which, nah.
On the other hand, if you mean someone who would be considered a complete monster by moral standards but still has other traits, then hell yeah! (And if you mean complete literal monster in the supernatural sense, also hell yeah.)

I have to admit I'm not completely familiar with how this trope is defined. I think it's the villain's right hand man turning against them? In which case, I like betrayals and I like plots and mind games, so in that sense, yes! I do not however like predictable betrayals, which this one sometimes can be.

Theoretically this sounds like an interesting set up! However I can't think of that many actual examples of it. Could vary a lot depending whether it's played for comedy or drama; I think I've seen the comedic version more but there's certainly plenty of good dramatic potential there. I would worry about it getting too contrived, which tends to be my issue with a lot of mistaken/unknown identity tropes, but if it avoids that then sounds cool!
(I think the reason I'm not more enthusiastic about this is that it sounds a lot like a superhero trope and I'm not hugely into superhero narratives)

Oh look! A source of inner conflict that isn't contrived or easily resolved! That is my shit.
