The final cost to have a working phone again is roughly $200. Whee. Fortunately, today I started my new job and my friend is occasionally loaning her phone so I can do some gig work. If my phone had to die in such a fashion, I wish it could have waited until after my first paycheck and I was more settled post-move. Still, it could be worse.
In the meantime, enjoying free wifi and trying to get some writing done prior ot orientation. I’m also learning my way around the new area, which is fun when it’s sunny and the traffic is a hundred times nicer than Seattle. When the GPS says you’ll arrive at a certain time, you actually arrive on time.
...though if you know someone who is directionally challenged, please, please don’t tell them that the way to such and such is easy. Just. Don’t. I have lost my way in buildings. I have repeatedly gotten lost in my neighborhood after more than a year of living there. My inner compass sits on a magnet.
I also realized that moving from liberal Seattle to the far more conservative South inspires porn writing like nothing else. I mean, it’s fantastic for my poor allergies and sinuses, but when you see some of the more conservative signs? Yeah. It’s fresh feed for my dirtier bunnies.
