Huawei’s use of Android restricts by Google
Hauwei has become world’s second largest company in technology industry after Samsung. However, Google has announced to restrict Huawei’s use of Android system. This means new Huawei smartphones will no longer have access to Google apps such as Google play and Maps and security updates. This action of restricting the use of Android, is to believed adter the Trump administration added Huawei to a list of companies that American firms cannot trade with without a licence (BBC News, 2019). At this stage Huawei declined to comment on this announcement by Google.
As some people said this could be a short-term damage fro Huawei in the West. In this, other smartphone manufacturers may need to consider if this happened to them, alternatives to Google’s operating system will be needed. However, it seems just a thing to come in the matter of time for Huawei as said to have their plan B.
Will this action of restrict Huawei use of Android system cause any damage to ecommerce? Yes I believe it will because if unable to have any access to Google play, then will have no ability to access to particular apps that are required such as online shopping. As a result, may be a decline in ecommerce industry. As well as a damage to cross-border ecommerce platform such as Starday. Customers or merchants may have difficulties in purchasing, delivery and product sales.
