ted & opal
Heyyy look at that I managed to finish this one! Took me half a year to pay enough attention to it, but I did it!
ROUND 1, POLL 37
Ted v Liliana Temult
Ted
Liliana
Which NPC is the best overall character?
(Pictured: a lined pencil drawing of ted and opal from critical role exandria unlimited. They are twins with medium dark skin and long hair. Opal's hair is white with her roots growing in and Ted's is dark and longer. They are laughing with their foreheads together and clasping their hands.)
My fave cr sisters!!!!!!!! The byrod-twins B)
Me watching Aabria on Adventuring Academy talk about Wuvvy and Laerryn and lightly touching on Ted and the Queen of Air and Darkness:
I have officially added Cyrus to the list of CR NPC siblings that make me go completely insane the other two being Cassandra and Ted
I’m seeing a lot of “Anyone judging Opal clearly doesn’t have siblings” and I 100% agree but also I’d like to point out that they’re also probably severely overestimating how much Opal actually knows about what’s going on with Ted.
We the audience, with our knowledge of the nature of warlock pacts and patrons, have known something was Wrong With Ted from the beginning, but from Opals reaction to the news that no one’s seen Ted in a while, it clearly never even occurred to her that Ted wasn’t home. Maybe Ted was a sorcerer or a wizard of some kind and Opal, with no real knowledge of magic, thinks that getting magic from Ted is a really cool trick.
Ted keeps saying things along the lines of “I sacrificed everything” “you don’t know what I’ve given up for you” and yeah, from our perspective this clearly means Ted made a really dangerous deal, or killed someone, or got killed, which makes Opal brushing those statements off or mocking them seem really, really insensitive and bratty. But those phrases also tend to crop up as hyperbole in intense family arguments, so Opal may have been interpreting them as such. I think seeing Ted break down crying was the first real indication to Opal that something wasn’t right, and that’s why she was so rattled by both that and later by the news that Ted had left home.
