ted’s mom headcanons
(that i need to think more about)
his dad was always working when he was a kid so he became quite close with his mom
this is pretty much canon based on the tiny (almost.. non existent) amount of info ted’s told us about his mom. he mentions that his mom would comfort him after he got bullied in school (for bein chubby & a nerd) and always refers to himself as “mama kord’s little boy” rather than say anything about his dad, who he’s made quite clear that he thinks is an asshole
his mom was pretty religious and ted grew up celebrating jewish holidays
ted’s dad didn’t want them to but he did it anyways because he loved his wife and wanted her to be happy. after she died, ted & his dad stopped celebrating jewish holidays and became less and less religious the more science he studied. by the time he became blue beetle he was fully agnostic
when he gets Older and gets more (any!) friends, he does celebrate hanukkah but for him it’s more about tradition & remembering his mom than any actual religious belief
his mom was a professional gymnast, possibly olympic level
this is the hc i want to be True the most because we see Ted have a huge interest in acrobatics and gymnastics but that’s not really like the popular fighting style for heroes back in the day (it’s not considered as “manly” as like, studying boxing or mma, for example) so i have to assume that he chose acrobats as his fighting medium because he already knew some.
i hc that ted was heavily into gymnastics as a kid and would go with his mom to her practices and do flips on the bars n stuff while he watched her and his dad Did Not Like This because he was sexist and thought gymnastics was a “women’s sport”. after his mom died his dad forbid him from going back to the gym to practice and ted had to sneak away to practice on his own :<(
