Dark and Lonely Night by Tiger Army from the album V - Directed by Casey Curry
1916: Conscience of Kings
Nashville’s (and formerly Rochester, New York’s) rowdiest pint-swilling Irish psychobilly punks, 1916, have dropped their sixth full-length album, Conscience of Kings, and it detonates! Produced by the legendary Ted Hutt, this 12-track, 37-minute riot of Irish punk, rockabilly swing, and foot-stomping Celtic fire is the breath of fresh air that the scene needs. Kicking off with the high-octane…
Dropkick Murphys: For The People
It’s been a bit of a wait, hasn’t it, folks? After those two Woody Guthrie-inspired acoustic jaunts – This Machine Still Kills Fascists and Okemah Rising – that had the Dropkicks channeling their inner folk troubadours, the Boston street-punks are back with For The People, and Jaysus, it’s like they’ve plugged back into the electric grid of their Celtic punk origins. No more sittin’ ’round the…
Dom Flemons Calls New Album An “Impressionistic Painting”
- Short documentary previews Traveling Wildfire’s March 24 release
Dom Flemons says his forthcoming Traveling Wildfire LP is an “impressionistic painting” of life in America over the past several years.
Produced by Ted Hutt, a co-founder of Flogging Molly who’s worked with Old Crow Medicine Show, the Dropkick Murphys and others, the album is roots music rooted in diversity.
“I love the idea of sorta people of different backgrounds and different sorta musical histories puttin’ their heads together and mixin’ it up and findin’ the right element,” Hutt says in a new six-minute documentary about making Flemons’ new album, which arrives March 24.
Announced with the release of “Slow Dance with You,” Traveling Wildfire finds Flemons playing 15 different instruments and he displays some of them - including various banjos, jug, bones and keyboards - in the film.
The former Carolina Chocolate Drop calls the LP a departure and says he’s excited “to venture into a different space … and move my music into some new direction.”
“I always tell people, ‘I love being typecast as a musician,’” Flemons says as the credits roll.
