SAD NEWS: The comedy world is mourning the death of standup comedian and actor Teddy Ray, who was featured in the HBO Max series Pause with Sam Jay. He was 32. The cause of death is not known at this time, but the tragic news comes just two weeks after he celebrated his birthday. All Def Digital, the multi-platform media company Ray collaborated with in the past, released a statement confirming the news. "We're heartbroken and still can't believe that our brother Teddy Ray has passed away," the tweet read. "We will miss him every day but we know he will have Heaven laughing. Our deepest condolences and prayers to his immediate family and friends. #RIP #TeddyRay." Ray is best known for performing standup comedy at acts at Los Angeles comedy clubs and appearing on numerous television shows, including BET's "Comic View,'' HBO's "All Def Comedy,'' MTV's "Wild N' Out'' and Russell Simmons' online comedy platform, "All Def Digital.'' Ray rose to internet fame through his viral “double cheek” meme, which came from a parody of Diane Sawyer’s 2017 Caitlyn Jenner interview that was produced by All Def Digital & Doctor Chorizo Comedy. Many of his friends and fellow comedians took to social media to remember him—including @insecurehbo creator @issarae , whose media company, Hoorae, posted a group photo on Twitter and wrote: "Rest in Power to our longtime creative collaborator and friend, Teddy Ray. Grateful for the energy you always brought to our projects and sets!" @comedycentral verified Twitter account also paid tribute to the comedian writing, "Teddy Ray was a hilarious and beloved performer. He’ll be deeply missed by the entire comedy community." Details on survivors or memorial plans were not immediately available. Up Your Geek extends its condolences to Ray’s family, friends, colleagues and fans. #peaceinparadise #rip #TeddyRay #Actor #Comedian #TV #StandUpComedy #ComedyCentral #HBOMax https://www.instagram.com/p/ChPgnR8rnaH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
