The Teddy Ruks x Ewing Concept Reflective
Teddy Ruks unveiled his first sneaker on VH1’s Black Ink Crew for millions of viewers in March. The shoe, a brand-new build of the Ewing Concept (Patrick Ewing’s game shoe of choice during the 1991- 1992 NBA season), flaunts a reflective upper and orange glow in the dark outsole. A sneaker enthusiast with over 1,000 pairs in his closet, Teddy has been collecting since he was 13. “All these years of my life I’ve been spending money on shoes – I know everything about sneakers,” said Ruks in the episode of Black Ink Crew that first unveiled the sneaker (S6E15). “Maybe, I can come up with my own shoe. And it worked out.” Designed to stand out in the club with its flashy upper and bright glow in the dark sole, this Ewing Concept is broken up with black speckling on the midsole and a strap that secures the entire shoe. “I came up with a shoe design – I wanted New York with this one – scored the meeting and got a deal. It all happened so fast but through the grace of God I have an opportunity to help my brother.”
The shoe was created to help Teddy raise funds for his brother who had been held in Riker’s Island for four years. Teddy Ruks and Ewing Athletics will celebrate this latest collaborative sneaker release on December 19 in Harlem at Black Ink Gallery (55 Malcolm X Blvd).
The Teddy Ruks x Ewing Concept Reflective is available now at EwingAthletics.com for $140 in sizes 5-16.
