Love You Forever
Ted Nivison x Reader Word Count: 924 Warnings: Drunk!Ted, mentions of alcohol, slightly fluffy, lightly edited so don’t sue me! Description: You and Ted head back to your hotel after he spends the day recording a video with Cold Ones. Author’s Note: I hope y’all enjoy! I know it’s a short blurb. Getting back into writing has been a challenge but I hope I’m back for good now y’all.
Ted smiles widely from the passenger seat, staring at you as you drive. “Hey, sweetheart?” He asks, his voice slightly slurred. The two of you had just left the Cold One’s studio, heading back to the Air BNB you had rented for the Australia trip.
You glance over at him, smiling back at your slightly intoxicated partner. “Yes Teddy?”
He melts back into the seat, reaching his hand over and putting it on your
thigh. “I lovee when you call me Teddy,” he exaggerates the word love. “Can we, maybe, take a detour and find a grocery store? I really want to get some mozzarella sticks to make at the Air BNB.”
“Yes, we can find a grocery store,” you reply, holding his hand in your lap. He rubs his thumb on your hand, the radio quietly playing your most recently made playlist.
“You’re such a good girlfriend,” he coos as you pull into a parking lot of a grocery store. “No,” his face gets serious as you find a parking spot. “Not girlfriend, wife. This is wife behaviour.”
You park and turn the car off, turning to him. “Then where’s my ring?” You joke, holding up your empty hand. Almost as soon as you make the joke, you begin to feel a little guilty.
He grabs your hand, looking at your bare ring finger, seeming confused. Suddenly, his expression changes, as if he had figured out the answer in his head. “It’s in my suitcase at the Air BNB,” he says simply, smiling and dropping your hand. He leans closer to you, softly pecking your lips, and you can taste the alcohol on his lips. “Mozzy stick time!” he sings dramatically as he unbuckles and moves to get out of the car, acting as if he hadn’t just snitched on his own plans for a proposal.
As you step out of the car, you shake your head, trying to shake the surprise
and shock that you felt at the news. A simple joke had turned into a confession. A ring, for you, in his suitcase, at the Air BNB. He brought an engagement ring with the two of you to an entirely different country. What was he planning? Ted takes your hand while you walk towards the doors, and you decide that you would let it go, try not to worry about something he more than likely accidentally confessed.
Easier said than done.
The entire trip to the store, the drive back to the Air BNB, and the twenty minutes you sat in the kitchen, heating up the frozen mozzarella sticks, the only thing on your mind was the ring. Ted happily dances along to the theme music of a random show that plays from the living room as you walk out, a plate of mozzarella sticks and other snacks in your arms.
Ted helps you set the snacks on the coffee table before pulling you onto the
couch next to him. You cozy to his side, smiling as you put your head on his shoulder and wrap your arm around his torso. He kisses your head, leaning slightly to grab a mozzarella stick.
The two of you lay on the couch, lazily snacking as a random game show plays on the TV, not super entertaining, but just interesting enough to not change. After a few episodes, Ted stirs slightly, and you sit up. “Bathroom break, I’ll be right back,” he explains as he stands, walking towards the hallway.
While he does his thing, you decide to tidy up, taking the empty snack bags and bowls into the kitchen. As you tidy up the kitchen, Ted comes back into the living room, laying down on the couch. Quickly, you rejoin him, the two of you fitting together on the couch perfectly, like two puzzle pieces. As the two of you continue to watch the show, he takes your right hand, fiddling with your fingers lazily as he kisses your neck. A smile slowly spreads across your face as you lean into him more, tilting your head to reveal more skin for him to kiss.
“I love you,” he whispers against your skin, your mind suddenly focusing on your right hand, which he now holds still, using both of his hands to slide something cold and heavy onto your ring finger.
You turn around on the couch to face him, not saying anything as you connect your lips to his. He smiles into the kiss, pulling you closer to him as your newly ringed hand finds his face, cupping it as the kiss deepens. He pulls away slightly, the two of you catching your breaths.
“Can I take that as a yes?” He asks, smiling at you. You smile back, nodding.
“Yes,” you say, pecking his lips again. He rubs your side soothingly.
“I’m sorry it wasn’t very extravagant,” he begins, taking your hand again, looking at the ring against your skin. “I had something different planned, but then I snitched on myself while we were at the store and I figured I would just send it.”
You stare down at the ring, a simple, diamond crusted heart swirled with a silver infinity symbol that turns into the band as it wraps around your finger, fitting perfectly. “It’s perfect,” you say. “I love you.”
Ted grins widely, pecking your lips again. “I love you,” he says. “And now I get to love you for like, forever.”
“I wouldn’t want it any other way,” you reply, leaning in to connect your lips with his again.
