As one of the 2011 winners of the inaugural TEDxSMU auditions, Brandpointe's co-founder, Jasmin Brand, returns to the stage this year as emcee of the organization's awesomely fun event! Teaming up with Dallas Social Venture Partners (DSVP) to host the second annual round of auditions as the "capstone piece" of DSVP's BigBANG! conference, TEDxSMU's event will feature fewer than a dozen hopefuls out of hundreds of entries, each of whom will share their best story, song, poem, or anything else that might help them earn a highly-coveted spot on stage for the organization's main event on December 1.  To quote TED's leadership, they're "looking for a Dallasite to knock our socks off with a short talk or performance that makes us “re:think.”

Sharon & Sam Blumberg | TEDxKids @SMU 2011

Last year our founder Sharon and her son Sam spoke at the TEDxKids @SMU conference.

What is TED? It's a conference devoted to "Ideas Worth Spreading." TED brings together fascinating people that have interesting ideas to share, which are presented in short talks under 18 minutes. TEDxSMU is an independently organized TED event here in Dallas. 

Sharon was invited to speak about CHOOZE at the kids' conference, and I was in the audience as an SMU student and Carole & Jim Young Fellow. There were so many amazing talks throughout the day, but Sharon & Sam’s talk truly struck a chord with me. It spoke to my passion for creativity and poverty eradication, and I immediately knew that I wanted to get involved. 

This talk inspired me to meet Sharon & join CHOOZE in its movement to empower and elevate people & make a difference in the world. And now here I am working at headquarters.

I often say that this talk changed my life, and I am so excited to finally share it with you all! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
