“I’ve never actually been ice skating before”
Wanda’s confession was almost a whisper next to you whilst the pair of you sat on a bench and fastened the laces on your skates.
“No? That’s alright, I can teach you. Gives me an excuse to hold your hand for longer”
Despite your girlfriend's blush, you could tell she was nervous about something. Her eyes darting around until she landed on something over your shoulder. You turned around to get a better look at was had her so worried to find you mother mid laugh with her date at a picnic table near the rink.
“Don’t be embarrassed that she’s here. I know it’s not ideal but she’s a little preoccupied with Bucky to even think about bothering us”
“It’s not that. It’s cute your mom has a date. It’s just-, I don’t want her to think I’m holding you back. She already has reason to not like me, this could just make everything worse”
“Do you really think my mom is going to like you less for not being able to ice skate?”
“Yes, no. I don’t know. You two are so good at everything. What if she sees how bad I am and thinks I’m not good enough for you? God, I sound so stupid”
“Hey, don’t say that” you grabbed her hands that looked to be picking at a loose thread on her gloves. “Sure, my mom took a while to come around to the idea of me and you together. But she loves you now”. Wanda quietly scoffed at you and shook her head. “Seriously. Sometimes I think she likes you more than she likes me”
“Don’t be ridiculous”
“Y/N, ridiculous? Surely not?”
The pair of you looked up to find Natasha and Bucky looking down at you. A smirk on both of their faces.
“Ha ha, very funny mom. Your date was short, I knew Bucky wasn't good enough for you”
“Actually, he’s been so good that we’re going to take a romantic walk around the park. We just wanted to let you know before we left”
“First of all, ew. But at least we’ll finally get some good old fashioned personal space” you winked at Wanda before your mom and Bucky said their good eyes and walked towards the park.
-
“You’ve totally got this now! Look at you go!”
“No, don't let go of my hand. I’ll fall”
“You won't, I promise. Hold onto the side while I go over there” you pointed about ten feet in front of you where there was an empty space from lack of skaters. “Two big pushes and you’ll be back in my arms, okay?”
“Ugh this is the worst” Wanda said under her breath as you turned and glided away from her. She missed your warmth and your stability.
“Two big pushes, remember?”
“Two big pushes”. She said it like a mantra. It was only ten feet. The momentum would carry her the majority of the way. She wobbled slightly as she let go of the side of the rink, but pushed off nonetheless. If her brother could see her now. All squeals and unbalance. He’d laugh and her and tell her to get on with it.
“There you go! Yep, perfect. Almost there Wands”
When wanda collided gently with your body, she held you so tight she thought she’d melt right into you if she stayed there long enough.
“I told you you could do it” you praised her into her wooly hat. It smelt like fresh air and detergent and something so distinctly her.
“And I thought you wanted to hold hands for longer?”
“Well maybe I thought getting to hold you like this was way better”
-
“They seem good for eachother” Bucky assessed as he leant forward against the glass of the rink. Natasha beside him, you and Wanda blissfully unaware of their return.
“They are. Wanda is a great kid.”
“So is Y/N. You raised a good one Nat. Honestly”
“It's just so crazy to see them grow up, you know? They’re so small and can fit perfectly in your arms and they depend on you for everything. Then the next minute they’re going on dates and getting embarrassed when you hug them in public”
“She’ll always need you, you're her mom. But her getting older also means you can live a new life. Perhaps one you’ve waited a long time to have”
“Barnes, is this your way of asking me out on another date?”
“Is that what you want?”
Natasha looked over at you laughing with Wanda as you dragged her around the ice another time. As much as she wanted to keep you to herself forever, you were old enough to pave your own path now.
“I still get to embarrass her right?”
“Oh yeah. Isn’t that a parent's privilege?”
A little glint appeared in her eye at his words and he knew she was up to something.
“C’mon guys” she shouted over to you and Wanda. Both of you looking up from where you were still staring into eachothers eyes. “I wanna go make out with Bucky on the couch so we’ve gotta leave, pronto”
Natasha could practically hear your eyes roll and your lip turn up in disgust. It made her chuckle slightly as you buried your head into Wanda’s neck to hide. Balance has most definitely been restored.
Summary - After the events of the incident at school Wanda takes you on a date, marking the start of something new.
Warnings - Nervousness and first date anxiety. Nothing else that I can’t think of.

“Mom, does this look good?”
It was your first date with Wanda and you were panicking about what to wear. It was only a simple picnic in the park but you still wanted to make an effort.
“You look good in everything sweetheart”
“I’m serious. I don’t want to look stupid or anything”
You’d opted for a mid length pale green tea dress adorned with tiny white flowers, black hightop converse and a pair of sunglasses atop your head. Their role was mainly just to push the hair out of your face. Simple enough.
She gave you a once over. Her eyes flitted across your standing form as she determined whether she thought the outfit was A. Appropriate and B. Up to scratch for your outing.
“I like it, but will you not get cold if your arms aren’t covered? I don’t want you getting sick”
“It’s not that cold” her eyebrows shot up in a slight warning. Her suggestion for extra layers not merely because she thought you could catch a chill. “I’ll take a jacket. But other than that, good?”
“Other than that, perfect”
“You’ll think she’ll like it?”
Natasha stood from her spot on the couch to stand in front of you. Her arms found your shoulders and a wash of calm blanketed over you instantly at her touch.
“I think she’d like it if you turned up in a trash bag. I’ve seen the way she looks at you. Like you’re the only person in the world. What you wear won’t change the fact she’s completely head over heels for you”
Your cheeks heated slightly at the thought of being so highly regarded by anyone, let alone Wanda. Was it normal to like somebody so much at the ripe old age of seventeen?
Before you could be subject to more potential internal embarrassment, you stepped back from your mothers touch and cleared your throat.
“Well I’m going to wait outside. She should be here soon and I don’t want to keep her waiting”
Natasha notices the hurriedness of your words. She knew you were nervous so she chose to not wish you good luck but hoped for you to have fun instead. And with a glance back, you retread out of the front door with a slight skip to your step and a small wave.
-
Wanda arrived in her very posh, freshly washed red 2019 Nissan Altima at 1:30pm on the dot.
You’ve been in her car several times since it was generously gifted to her as a seventeenth birthday present by her parents a few months before. But as it pulled up in the early afternoon light with the intention of it taking you to the destination of your first date with the driver, it looked new all over again.
You stood from where you had perched yourself on the top step of your porch, and nervously scurried down the garden path towards the vehicle. By the time you’d reached the front gate, Wanda had already stepped out from the driver's side and was making her way around the car.
God she was pretty. Her auburn hair practically shone in the sunlight. With each small breeze, strands of hair fluttered and waved like the wings of a butterfly. Her choice of clothing was much like her daily attire, but you could tell she’d made an effort too.
A light grey crop top covered her torso, whilst a black skater skirt brushed her thighs. Both paired with knee high black socks and lace up combat boots the same colour. You always loved her style.
As she strode over to meet you, only now have you realised she’s a few inches taller. Something you didn’t seem to notice before today. As she stood in front of you, her green eyes focusing on your lips, your eyes, your hair, you couldn’t help but think that it seems like this is the first time you’ve really seen her.
Your thoughts were halted by a gentle kiss to your cheek. A greeting you weren’t expecting. Your cheeks flushed once more.
“Hey” Wanda said, a small smile on her face as she backed away from you a few inches.
“Hey back”
“You look nice”
“You look nice too. I like your socks. Do these ones have holes in them aswell?”
“No” a quiet chuckle left Wanda’s lips, “I save these ones for special occasions”
There was an awkward pause. Why could you not bring yourself to speak? It’s not like you don’t know the girl, she’s your best friend.
“Shall we get in the car? The cooler can only save us for so long”
Before you even had the chance to answer she grabbed your hand and guided you to the passenger side of the car. Once there she opened the door for you with a confident pull and closed it behind you with a gentle thud once you settled yourself in the seat.
In the few seconds you were alone, all you could hear was the beat of your heart in your ears. You really needed to get a grip. Maybe it was best to think about it as an afternoon hanging out with a friend other than a date with your crush? Yeah that might help.
The opening and closing of the driver's side car made you jump a little.
“Ready to go?” She asked as she put her seatbelt on and readied herself to get going.
“As ready as I’ll ever be”
-
The park wasn’t as busy as you’d expected it to be on a weekend afternoon. Something you were grateful for. You didn’t feel like having to keep an eye out for out flying toys or unleaded animals. You had enough to think about right now.
Wanda had decided on the spot to lay the blanket down. A shaded area underneath a large oak tree, not too far from the lake. It was perfect.
You watched patiently as Wanda pulled each item out of the picnic basket. An assortment of foods such as cheeses, cold meats, breads and fruits delicately placed on the blanket in turn.
“I didn’t know what you would like so I decided on everything. I hope that’s okay?”
“It’s more than okay. It all looks great” you said as you rested your back against the rough bark of the tree trunk. “How’s your lip” you asked suddenly causing Wanda to turn to you with a confused look. “From last week” you clarified.
“Oh, yeah, that. It’s almost better, still a little bruised but nothing I can’t cope with. How are you feeling?”
“Better. My mom went back the next day and gave their parents a piece of her mind. I think one of them is transferring to a different school”
“Good. I’m glad. Urm, do you want a drink? I’ve got orange soda or grape. Or I’ve got some bottled water in the car if you’d prefer those?”
“Orange is good, thank you”
Wanda leant into the cooler and pulled out a large bottle of fizzy orange liquid. The cool plastic instantly fogged up as it hit the warm air.
“I’m happy your mom said yes to me asking you on a date. Not like it’s mandatory to ask the parents but you know, it’s nice she’s agreed to this”, Wanda waved her hand around her face indicating your surroundings to get her point across.
“You asked my mom?”
The wide eyes you received at your question told you she thought you knew.
“Ah yeah. After the meeting about the, you know, the fight and stuff”
“She never told me. Looks like you snitched on yourself Maximoff” you couldn’t help but smirk and the relief that washed over her face when you lightened the mood a little.
“Maybe I did, but I’m still happy she said yes. I know she’s not a massive fan of me but I’m willing to do better”
“If it’s any consolation, I like you just the way you are,” you said from behind the lip of the plastic cup your soda was poured into.
“Well that’s all that matters then isn’t it?”
A few moments passed where the two of you just sat and ate your food in silence. It was nice to take in your surroundings, but you couldn’t help but notice a niggling sense of longing.
So you decided to do something about it. You turned on the blanket to fully face Wanda, leant up on your knees and extended your hand out in front of you.
Wanda just looked up at you in utter confusion. Her brows creased as her eyes searched yours for an answer.
“Hi, I’m Y/N”
“I am extremely confused right now”
“I feel like we’re too much in our own heads about this. We were friends, we are friends. We shouldn’t have to act differently around each other just because this is a date. So I’m reintroducing myself. Starting fresh. So, I’m Y/N” you held your hand out again, but this time Wanda grabbed it.
“Hi Y/N, I’m Wanda. It’s nice to meet you”
The rest of the date went smoother than you could’ve hoped for.
-
The drive back home was nice. You had your window rolled down so the evening air caressed your face as Wanda drove down the quiet streets of your neighbourhood. You chanced a look at her every now and again. You could get used to her driving you around.
Another few minutes went by and you found yourself stood back on the top step of your porch. Wanda on the next step down, now making you slightly taller than her.
“I had fun” you stated.
“So did I. Did I tell you I liked your dress?”
“Yeah, you did”
“Oh, well it’s nice”
“Wanda”, you started and she looked up at you with those big green eyes again. “You don’t need to try so hard. I already really like you so there’s no need to impress me”
“You like me?” Her cheeky smirk almost made you regret saying that out loud.
“Of course I like you, how couldn’t I? You’re smart and and pretty and you make me laugh”
It was true. She was all of those things.
“Does that mean you’ll go on another date with me then?”
“If you ask me properly then I might” you quipped back at her.
“Do you wa-“
“I’m joking, of course I’ll go on another date with you”
Her smile met her eyes. Her apparent anxiety swiftly washed away with one sentence.
“As much as I don’t want this to end, you better get going. It’s getting dark and I’m pretty sure my mom is watching us through the gap in the curtains”
“Do I not get a kiss goodnight?”
“Don’t push your luck Maximoff” you scolded. Though you weren’t annoyed. Not really.
You leant forward slightly and placed a kiss on her cheek. The same as what she did to you earlier. It was small, innocent. But the promise behind it meant so much more.
“Now go, before my mother comes out and beats your ass for outstaying your welcome”. All she could do was hold up her hands and turn to walk back towards her car.
You stayed on your spot until her car was only a speck in the distance and your arm hurt from waving goodbye. You felt like you were floating. You didn’t know it was possible to miss someone’s company after being away from them for only a few minutes.
You tried to enter the house quietly. It wasn’t late but you still didn’t want to disturb whatever your mother was doing with you being loud. But as you closed the door, she rounded the corner from the kitchen with a smirk and a mischievous look in her eye.
“You were watching werent you?”
“Not on purpose. I heard a car pull up so I checked to see who it was and I saw you kissing Wanda”
You rolled your eyes as you untied your shoes. “I wasn’t kissing Wanda. It was a thank you peck on the cheek for a wonderful time. Nothing more, nothing less”
“Well the way you kept your eyes on her the whole time she drove up the street didn’t seem like it was nothing. You’re smitten”
“Ugh I’m not smitten. Can we not talk about this”
All Natasha could do was lean against the wall of the hallway and watch you with pride. Her baby, all grown up, going on dates and falling in love.
“Before you ask, yes. I said I’d go on another date with her. And no I don’t want to talk about it with you right now” you stood up from placing your shoes in the shoe rack by the door, and flattened out the creases of your dress with the palms of your hands. “So, are you just going to stand there staring at me or are we going to order takeout and watch trashy tv?”
I'm just imagining Reincarnated Reader but as a teen from that one a.u where they came through the door with Luz accidentally. But combine that with the Family A.U. Just Collector screaming THIS IS MY OLDER SIBLING, THE OLDEST SIBLING OF ALL THE SIBLINGS AND I LOVE THEM!!!
And Belos is like wait no. This is his personal hell. Hunters a sibling too. So it's Luz, Amity, Hunter, Gus, and Willow with King and Collector. And it's just like a gaggle of children and him. I think Eda and Lilith are there next door being the parents of the other kids Collector doesn't see as his siblings (Willow, Gus, Amity) But they are the only adults and they do not get along with Belos.
So Belos is just s u f f e r I n g because he hates playing house.
He obviously isn't attracted to Reader as their a teenager but being the single father of so many children including his reincarnated crush is weird and he's tired and hates this game. At one point he thinks about striking Collector or one of the other kids but Eda and Lilith stop him warning him Collector may react violently.
He just closes his eyes and keeps thinking bide your time so you can escape escape escape
Philip grabs you by the back of the collar and holds you out in front of the Collector like "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS?! THEY'RE NOT EVEN OLD ENOUGH-!"
The Collector smiles and leans in with "Nothing. They're my sibling!"
Imagine that Beloved still reincarnated as Reader, but instead of being Luz's godparent, they were someone her age who lived nearby and was also going to camp. Plenty of chances for Belos to be a creep, methinks.
And ended up with her in the Boiling Isles... interesting B<
Belos would be a creep but not THAT kind of creep (because I refuse to write for THAT kind of creep, we keep boundaries here. I already want to tear his throat out for what he's already done.).
Belos will only see you as a child but will not hesitate on trying to indoctrinate you into his way of thinking regardless if he believes you are Beloved or not. He will refuse to try anything with a child. You are innocent in his eyes and need to be protected in his twisted sense.
Actually, he's probably more panicked seeing you in the Boiling Isles, just like he may have been with Luz at first. He's trying to do everything he can to get you to agree to stay at the castle. He wonders if you even are Beloved and he's just mistaking a couple of traits for it. Surely, Beloved wouldn't come back to him so young? He's terrified because he doesn't know what this means, that you need to be protected regardless. You are human.
What most likely happened is you and Luz got separated when Eda grabbed her and ran and you got taken to the Conformatorium. Word spreads fast that you're human and Belos' savior complex orders that you be brought to him immediately. Upon seeing you, he nearly drops his staff. When he speaks with you alone, he sees how scared you are and he plays on that, showing you his face to help calm you down. He tells you you're safe from the real horrors of the Isles and he intends to keep it that way to make you see him as your protector. It works.
He is greatly aware of the age difference here as opposed to if you were an adult and doesn't want to scare you away. Instead of parental mode, he opts to be seen and called "your mentor". You are to have your hood up at all times when around the castle and are given a silver mask to wear to hide your face. You are never to leave the castle without Belos or his okay to do so.
He finds out what your current fantasies are and plays on them to keep you with him, leaning into the "Chosen One" trope hard before you're primed to accept his line of thinking. You and Luz may not have been friends, but you two share the same ideas for fantasy worlds. Maybe the two of you were off each other's radars or you were homeschooled? Either way, you met her that day so you didn't get a chance to know her.
Whatever happens, Hunter is highly jealous of you and doesn't understand why Belos has taken an interest in you... until the memories come back... And then Hunter realizes what Belos is trying to do with you.
Almost immediately, Darius becomes protective over you since he does not trust Belos. After catching a glimpse of Belos calmly caressing your cheek with the back of his hand, he becomes scared that Belos may actually cross a line (He won't). Darius goes to your room and leaves a small abomination hidden on top of your wardrobe so he can keep an eye on you. Should Belos try anything, the abomination would grow and hold him off until Darius could get to you. Other than that, he's cold toward you to keep up appearances but he tells Hunter to back off when he starts arguing with you for the sake of arguing.
Part of Belos sees you as a child he and Beloved would have had because of how much you look like them. The other part knows that you have years of growing to do before he can continue with the agreement. Either way, he's going to make sure you absolutely adore him before taking you back to the human realm.
However, before the Day of Unity, right after Hollow Mind, Darius kidnaps you and keeps you at the rebel hideout which enrages Belos. Darius and Raine begin to deprogram everything Belos had you believe while you were at the castle.
Either way, it's him pretty much being ????????????????????????!? when it comes to a very young Beloved. He even wonders how different you'll turn out because of his intervention, scared that you won't be anything like Beloved which is why he feels a great need to get you back where you belong so everything could happen naturally, whenever it happens.
Omgggg can I pwease, pwease request for platonic Natasha x teen!reader based on song Janie's Got a Gun by Aerosmiths? Thank you, bub, ily and you're talented. 😌💜

“Oh Y/N, what have you done?”
You barely heard the voice over the roaring in your ears.
You chose not to look away from the bloody scene in front of you. The need to confirm he was gone overtook any other thought in your head.
The grip on the gun in your hand tightened as you watched a trail of blood leave the wound on the man’s forehead. A large crater of your creation staring back at you. Perhaps if you looked close enough you’d be able to see through his head to the floor below.
The next second your vision was filled with a different type of red. Natasha. She was grabbing your face in an attempt to get you to snap out of whatever trance you were in.
The gun was ripped from your hand and thrown somewhere into the dark corners of the room. The clattering of metal against wood finally stopped the tuning in your ears.
You didn’t realise you were shaking until one of her hands left your face and steadied one of yours in hers.
She was warm. Calming as always. But even her grounding nature didn’t force your gaze from the mess you’d caused just moments ago.
“We need to get you out of here, dorogoy. Can you walk for me?”
You don’t remember leaving the house. Not that you cared. It was never a home to you. You were glad you were rid of it for good.
It wasn’t until you were being wrapped in a blanket that smelled like Natasha that you came to. You were in her room at the compound. A place that felt more like home than that place ever did.
“Is he gone?” You meekly asked. Quiet not from embarrassment, but from exhaustion. The energy it took to follow through was more than you’d expected.
“He’s gone” came the response from next to you, “the boys are going to take care of it”
Natasha knew you didn’t like people cleaning up the messes you made, but this was for the best. You needed to be kept away from that part of your life once and for all.
“I didn’t mean to. But he went to hurt me again and I saw the gun on the side. It happened so quick”
At the tightness in your voice, strong arms encased you in a hug. You buried your face in the crook of her neck and breathed in her scent.
Natasha wasn’t your family by blood. But she sure as hell was more family than the man that laid bloody and cold on the floor.
“He won’t ever hurt you again. You’re safe now”
“Am I going to go to prison?”
“No. Like I said, the boys are dealing with everything. You get to stay here with me until it’s all over”
You liked the sound of that. Natasha and you in the safety of the compound. It’s all you ever wanted.
“I’m glad he’s dead. He wasn’t much of a dad”
“I’m glad he’s dead too. I just wish you had let us sort it all”
“I’m sorry”
“Don’t be. He had what was coming to him”
Natasha noticed you stifle a yawn. You must've been tired.
“Why don’t we have a nap? When we wake up we can do whatever you want”
You hummed with content at her offer.
It didn’t take you long to fall asleep. Natasha was grateful for your swift journey into the unconscious. You being alright was the only thing she’s asked for.
All she wanted to do was protect you. As fast as you were growing up, you were really just a kid. And kids need family. That’s what she would be to you. Family.
And this time she won’t let anyone get in the way of keeping you together.
Hiyaaa i love your writing sorry of its a lil too muhc but could i mabey request platonic natasha x teen!reader where the r has a nightmare and nat comforts the r? I kinda hav problems with my mom and her creppy ass drunk boyfriend and i need smth to take off of my mind. Sorry for my english btw. 💜

It felt so real. They always do. The only reason you know they’re not reality is because you can actually wake up from the horror now. That was never an option before.
You were startled awake by the feeling of something cold being placed on your clammy forehead. Apparently this time your shouts were loud enough to travel through the walls because you found Natasha perched next to you on the bed.
Sitting up, you realised she had dampened a washcloth to cool you down. You used it to wipe the back of your neck, letting out a shaky breath as you got your bearings.
“Sorry I woke you” you said after a while. The silence was getting too much.
“Don’t be sorry, you know I’m always here if you need me”
“I thought they’d stopped”
“That doesn’t mean they won’t eventually. You shouldn’t have gone on that mission. I told fury not to send you”
“I don’t want to be a burden to the team. I’m not a child, I shouldn’t have to be looked after”
You saw the flash of sadness sweep across Natasha's face as your comment, so you turned away, not wanting to look her in the eyes and know what you said had some truth.
“The whole point of a team is for people to look out for each other. Y/N, look at me”
You didn’t want her to see your tears. But Natasha was clever, she knew what you were doing even if she pretended she didn’t.
“Come on, let’s lay back down. You don’t have to talk, but you do have to give me a cuddle”
You listened this time. As much as you hated to admit it, you needed comfort right now. So you shuffled back down the bed and laid facing away from her.
The shuffling behind you indicated Natasha was getting herself into position too. All confirmed with how she wrapped one arm around your waist, using the other hand to gently run her fingers through your hair.
You flinched at the touch at first, but it calmed you after a few beats.
“Don’t ever think you have to go through things like this alone. We’re all here to help you, especially me. I want you to remember that”
“I was back there” you whispered, “back at that place”
“I know. But you’re awake now, safe in your room at the compound”
“It felt so real. The smell, the voices, it was like I was there again”
Natasha hugged you tighter when she heard the waiver in your voice.
“You’ll get there. It might take some time, but you’ll get there. You’re around some of the smartest people in the world here, so don’t be afraid to ask for help. We can be with you, every step of the way”
You finally turned in her arms to face her. Finding a kind smile on her face that you knew was sincere. It wasn’t hard to feel safe when you were with Natasha.
“Stay with me? Please? Just for tonight”
“Of course I’ll stay. I’ll stay with you tonight and every other night until you’re sick to death of me. Now try and get back to sleep, I’ll be here when you wake up”
now young teen, like idk 15/16 year old adoptive daughter x natashaaaa! r goes to school with peter and she sees an old student with a tattoo that looks slightly like the hydra symbol since it’s covered up by his shirt, r doesn’t want to talk to him (more like take him down & to the avengers) in school so she waits & follows him after school. Even tho he’s older/ taller than her, she still has the black widow’s training so she takes him down easily demanding answers but then the guy shows her the tattoo and it’s just something normal.. yikes. anyway he calls the cops on r & nat has to collect her from the police station lmao 🤩 she’d be mad haha
This idea was so cool. Teen reader is so fun to write omg
Authors note - thank you all for the adoptive!daughter requests. Slowly but surely getting through my inbox so if you have requested, then dw I’ll get round to yours at some point!
Warnings - Language, obviously because this is me we’re talking about here. Also ending isn’t either happy or sad so don’t expect a fluff ending ☹️

Bail Me Out
Living life as the daughter of an Avenger was not always the fun and thrills people think it is. Especially when your mother is Natasha Romanoff.
The famous spy was known for her hand to hand combat and being a master of covert espionage. So being raised by the Black Widow, you’d have thought you’d have a good chance of picking up those skills. But that fact you were now sat in a police station waiting for your mother to collect you told you otherwise.
Maybe trying to be a teenage hero needed to be put on the back burner.

“So Peter what are the plans for later then?” You asked your friend as you sat down opposite him at the lunch table.
“Well I’ve got homework so I’ll be doing-“
“No, I mean what are we doing later?” You asked again this time emphasising it in a way that made him understand what you meant.
“Y/N, you can’t come with me on anymore city patrols, your mum almost skinned me alive when she found out about it last time” he whispered at you in between eating his food.
“Ugh but being at home is so boring. Even the tower has become painfully dry, come on Peter please”
“Nope, I’m not risking it, your mum is scary Y/N and I really like being alive so it’s a no from me I’m afraid”
“Traitor. I can’t believe that you-, wait a sec” you had caught something out of the corner of your eye over peters shoulder.
“Wait a sec what? What’s happening?” Peter was swivelling around in his seat to try and see what you were looking at.
“When did Josh get a tattoo?” You asked craning your neck to try and get a glimpse of it peaking out of the older kids sleeve.
“I don’t know, he’s scary so I try and stay as far away as possible”
“Cause it looks sort of like the Hydra symbol, don’t you think?”
Peter eyes went wide at your statement. “Shut up Y/N! Don’t be saying that stuff out loud. It probably isn’t but wven if it was it’s none of your business so just stay away from him”
“But what if-“
“Stay out of it, I mean it” and with that Peter stood up and left you alone at the table.
-
What you had saw in the canteen had been playing on your mind all day. If it was a hydra tattoo then surely you had a responsibility to do something about it? So instead of listening to whatever information your biology teacher was spouting out, you decided to make a plan instead.
There were a lot of factors that had to go into this. Finding him after school, which wouldn’t actually be that hard as he stood around the bike sheds smoking until he walked home. Following him without getting scene by either him or anyone else. Then actually confronting him. You really wish you had Peter to help including he had actual powers but he wasn’t an option.
You’d have to do this yourself.
-
The bell rang telling you it was the end of the school day. That also meant it was the start of your first solo mission.
The nerves started to set in when you spotted Josh talking to his friends by the bike sheds.
Peter was right, he was scary. Christ why did you think this was a good idea? But if you didn’t stop him now, he could cause issues down the line, then you’d be the one to blame for not doing anything.
You lingered behind a tree, keeping an eye on Josh for what felt like forever until you felt someone tap you on the back.
Out of instinct you spun around and jabbed whoever it was in the stomach.
“Ow! What the hell Y/N, what was that for?” Thank god it was only Peter.
“Why the fuck are you sneaking up on me like that? Have you got a death wish?”
“If you must know I’ve come to ask you why you’re hiding behind a tree when normally you’re the first one running away from this place”.
“I uh, I’m waiting for MJ, she said she’d help me with my physics homework” you blurted out, not having thought to come up with a proper excuse.
“Oh right cause I thought she said she was meeting me later, I’ll ring her-“
“NO, I mean it’s okay I’ll just get Bruce to help it’s all good, I’ll see you later”. You fled away from Peter in the direction of a now alone Josh. You followed him making sure to keep your distance.
-
Ducking and diving behind cars so you weren’t seen, you followed Josh hoping to get an opportunity to strike. At this rate you thought you could end up walking for miles in the opposite direction to home but a chance had finally arisen.
You got your moment when he walked down a side alley. A little bit of a scratchy move if you were being honest. Walking alone and heading down a dead end alley was not something a regular old joe would find themselves doing. Crossing the road and ruining up behind him, you smacked Josh across the head with you backpack. Not your finest moment but at least it got his attention.
“What the fuck? Who are you?” Oh shit he was taller than you than you expected. You always keep your distance so you never actually realised how big he was. “Are you going to answer me or am I going to have to beat it out of you?”
“Your tattoo, show me it” you instructed, trying not to let your nerves show.
“What are you talking-“
“Now!” You shouted at him this time.
“Alright, Jesus” he relented and did as you asked. Lifting up the sleeve of his T-shirt he revealed his tattoo. Yet what you believed to be a grudges symbol was actually just some intricate tribals design. “Happy now you freak?”
“I’m sorry, I thought-“
“I don’t give a damn about what you thought. I’m calling the police” he said as he dialled the number and raised his phone to his ear.
“No don’t please I was just-“ but it was too late, the police were already on their way.
-
“Who are you here for?”
“Y/N Romanoff”
The police officer kept his eyes on the screen as he typed in your name.
“Ah yes, her bail has just come through, she should be right through there” he stood up and pointed in the direction of a set of double doors just underneath a sign that read ‘Holding Cells’.
-
“What on Earth were thinking Y/N?” Your mother said and the car door closed behind her. The exasperation laced in her voice told you you were in big trouble.
“I thought I’d help. I thought he was with Hydra because of his tattoo”
“That isn’t something you need to get involved in. You’re not trained for that sort of stuff Y/N. You’re lucky he didn’t have anything to do with Hydra because if he did what would you have done then?”
“I don’t know”. You hadn’t actually planned that far ahead. You thought if he had gotten found out he’d just surrender and everything would be okay. Something you now realise was stupid.
“As much as you’re almost an adult, at the end of it all you’re still a child-“
“But Peter’s sixteen and he gets to go on missions!” you exclaimed
“Peter has abilities Y/N, you don’t, so don’t even bother arguing with me about this again”
“I’m sorry”
“I know you are but that doesn’t make me any less mad about what you’ve done. You’re lucky Josh and his parents aren’t going to press charges”
“I just wanted to help! I want do be involved. You get to go off and help all these people and catch the bad guys. I want to do that too!”
“That’s enough!” She pulled the car to the side of the road with an abrupt stop. “You’re smart but you have no idea what it takes to do what we do. What we’ve had to sacrifice. Don’t you dare talk to me about being involved in this because I won’t let you put yourself at risk just to feel included”
“I didn’t think-“
“Well not thinking can get you killed. I’ve already lost one family, I can’t lose you too!”
You getting arrested wasn’t the worst thing about all this you realised. You put yourself in danger just to follow in the footsteps of your mum. She was right. You were way out of your league and you throughly fucked up.
“I didn’t realise mum I’m sorry, I’ll do anything. Anything to make it up to you, I promise” you pleaded with her to forgive you.
“You’re grounded Y/N until I can think of a reasonable punishment. And I’m getting Bucky to pick you up from school so you can’t get into trouble like this again”. You wanted to huff in protest but you were already on thin ice so you decided against it.
As much as you wanted to help the team, it looks as though being a hero will have to wait for now.
