Bits & Bites to Getting Fit
I know, I know. We all want to just get that bit fitter but it just seems to be so difficult. I am not overweight, in fact I’m considered lean. I always feel pretty satisfied with my body until I go shopping, fall in love with a dress, put it onto myself, only to realise the pretty little thing isn't that perfect on me...If only I am skinnier...
It is rather cruel that clothes nowadays favour skinnier people. For most people, most clothes would look better in them if they become thinner. That's the truth, what can we do. Suck it up and trim your belly.
I have tried reducing my calories intake by eating cereal for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and half a bowl of rice + some veges for dinner, with an apple as snack in between. It went well until I realised that was not the way I want to live my life. So tiring...and so boring. So, I resumed my usual diet and gained back whatever weight I lost. Now, based on my real life experience, I caution each and every one of you against trying to lose weight by forcing yourself into some rigid diet regime. That is not feasible. It's called Yoyo-diet. Once you relax a tiny bit, the weight comes back. In fact, by consuming lesser calories, your metabolism rate slows and it would mean you would have to eat lesser and lesser everyday to maintain the weight loss. That is sad. You know, without food, your life will be quite meaningless.
SO, what should you do? It's simple.
1. Come to terms with the fact that it is very easy for you to put on weight during puberty, sometimes for no reason. Just chill, stress impedes digestion and causes pimple outbreak. Don't rush to deprive yourself from food too. You are just making yourself unhappy when you can be cool with it and come up with a workable strategy. (You can ask me for advise)
2. Choose the right snack. Of course, you can occasionally give yourself a little treat, like chocolate and chips. I am talking about, on a daily basis, you would want to have something healthy, tasty and not fattening to curb your appetite. Here are some wonderful stuff you might want to consider: bananas, almonds (I will talk more about this in "Going nuts about nuts"), grapes, yogurt, cherry tomatoes (I love this!)...
3. Hula hoop is good. I have been lazy but previously when I hula hooped for 10mins daily, my waist really became curvier! It is amazing! You should so try it! Oh, remember to get those heavier ones, it would be best if you can get the wooden one.
4. Skip! The downside about exercising is that I don't want to get those bulging muscles that I personally find ugly. I would say skipping is an exception. There is even a possibility that you can grow taller! Even though I stopped growing 3 years ago, I still hold on to that slim hope.
5. Go shopping. Woah, that sounds wishful right. No, not at all! Do you know that when you sit down, your metabolism rate drops to one of a dead horse and when you stand, you burn 10 calories an hour without moving an inch. When you shop, you actually burn more a 100 calories per hour. That is a lot because when you hole up a home and stick yourself to your computer, you tend to snack (a lot, if that is applicable to you). That's not all! You become happier! Isn't that the best thing you ever get?
6. Drink water because it spurs metabolism.
7. Drink green tea after you eat oily stuff. This is strong, so don't drink too much because you might get gastric pain.
Okay, for now, that is all. If you have any problems and you hope to get some advises, just comment or send me a message. I will get back to you soon.
Don't worry when you gain a pound or two. Love your life and life will love you back. Love your body and your body will look better than anybody's. It's hard but we should all try, isn't it?
