Temple of Kom Ombo, Egypt
Kom Ombo is a perfectly symmetrical double temple built circa 180 BCE, dedicated to different aspects of Goddess Hathor represented on each side with a different consort.
The ceiling is decorated with astronomical scenes and the columns have palm, lotus, or payriform tops. One wall contains the oldest known illustration of medical and surgical tools. The outermost chamber depicts scenes of Goddess Seshat overseeing construction of the temple. Parts of the temple were later defaced by Christians who used the temple as a church and builders who used its stones for other projects.
