“ANYA...” Regardless of her exhaustion &. growing fatigue ( both from a hard day of “work” &. without the reprieve of resting her head after said hard day of “work” ), Yor really hated to see Anya cry. Seeing those tears hurt more than any wound, any malicious attack with killer intent, inflicted on her body. This pain stung, was more raw, than anything else the woman experienced tonight. Her aching limbs &. the soreness of her leg muscles will simply have to wait — she will stay up all night if it meant it could grant her daughter some peace of mind.
Yet, coinciding with her pain, Yor can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia, deep within the recesses of her heart; this night was very reminiscent of her childhood days, when she was already playing the sole caretaker of her younger brother — she was already accustomed to taking up the role as a parent, as a protector. Those nights he would lie awake, crying in fear &. calling out for Yor, his protector, to save him from those malignant beasts, hidden yet waiting to strike in the darkness; &. she would do exactly that: protect him from “the monsters.”
&. Like those nights many years ago, it’s only right that she protects Anya in the way she knows best: by putting up a fight!
Without wasting another moment, Yor quickly, &. suddenly, fell to her knees &. looked under the bed; this time, entertaining the child’s fears with the appropriate hostility suited against “monsters” ( rather than using logic or reasoning out the true source of the noise ). “Come out...! Come out, you hideous monsters! I’m going to punch you until you cry for disturbing Anya!” She belts out a grunt, eyebrows furrowed, fists poised ready for the attack in retaliation.
Worried that her sudden outburst would frighten the child, Yor looked up again towards Anya, shifting her hostile expression to the warm, welcoming smile on her face as soon as her gaze met her daughter’s. “Don’t worry, my dear. I will defeat them so you’ll never have to worry about those monsters ever again. I will defend you with my last dying breath!”
