FT8- WSJT-X for newbies
TelescopeMan does a quick demo of the WSJT-X software for beginners. Sorry for the echo that occurred during the video it only lasts about 10 seconds. Apparently I accidentally hit the second microphone connection! :) It will become normal again after a few seconds. If you look under the MODE tab in the software you will see that FT8 is already selected as a default. Later you can change this to any or the other modes listed. Check my previous videos on FT8 to see an actual contact.
TelescopeMan demonstrates PSK31 a popular digital (text) mode in ham radio. Search for PSK31 -- rigblaster-- and signalink on the internet.

TelescopeMan records another severe weather event in Hunt County. The net control is being run from the Texas A&M Commerce college campus. Their EOC there has access to State emergency officials, radar, and the National Weather Service in Ft. Worth Texas- via Echolink. The K5GVL repeater owned by the Sabine Valley Amateur Radio Association is used for all weather events within Hunt County, Texas. The radio club has given written permission for the EOC to use the K5GVL repeater during emergency events. They are running this weather radio net.
If you listen closely during the first 15 minutes you will hear FEMA check-in.
TelescopeMan demonstrates JT65 for beginners. This is a low power digital mode in amateur radio. It was originally developed to bounch signal off the moon by Physicist Joe Taylor. It will permit you to make long distance contacts during solar minimum and or if you have a marginal antenna.
