Deep Space Nine, Inquisition s06e18
The minimal use of dialogue in episode 13 was so effective. All season we got used to the distinct chatter of this ER and now everyone is just in survival mode.
Like there were just pockets of strained silence as everyone worked with what they got—it was so uneasy. We depend on the characters to offer us insight, give us the hope and the stakes. But at this point the stakes are staining their gowns and there is little room for hope.
Really cool take on strain and trauma. No flashy editing. No huge interpersonal conflict. Just reality.

mash episode A-plot: a nurse dies after spending the night with hawkeye, who ends up volunteering to deliver the eulogy, and finds out no one really knew her, and thought she was cold and unfriendly and distant, but when hawkeye reads her diary he finds out she was falling in love with him and didn't have the courage to tell him how she felt, which makes hawkeye reflect on how he's treated women in the past - casually, never giving them a chance to talk about how they felt, insisting on things stay casual or else he was out. millie, the nurse, former head of thoracic surgery at a hospital in the states, couldn't stop thinking about hawkeye, so she took a late-night walk to clear her thoughts, but was ultimately killed after stepping on a landmine. additionally hawkeye learns she wasn't cold or unfriendly or distant like people thought, but actually very shy. hawkeye, who covers up his feelings with jokes, realizes he never tells the people he cares about the most how much he does care about them, and how much he loves them, and says as much during the eulogy, telling his friends he loves them, and bids goodbye to millie.
